ADOLFO DI BÉRENGER, STUDIOSO E TECNICO FORESTALE NEL VENETO DELL’OTTOCENTO (original) (raw)
The essay aims to illustrate the work of the great nineteenth-century scholar and technician during the thirty years he spent in the Veneto, before his arrival at the top of the Italian forestry administration and his commitment to the foundation of the Vallombrosa Forestry Institute. Attention is drawn on the one hand to the intense activity carried out as a forest inspector, particularly in the large state forests of Montello and Cansiglio, in an attempt to lead them towards a science-based management; on the other hand, to his commitment to research, mainly in the botanical field first, then in the silvicultural field, conducted along uneven but often original and innovative paths.
