THE ROLE OF DRUG NAMES IN DIFFERENTIATING AND SELECTING THE APPROPRIATE MEDICATION (original) (raw)

Each drug has its own unique name to distinguish it from other drugs based on its class. This aims to differentiate one drug from another and make it easier for healthcare professionals to find the appropriate medication. The importance of drug classification and proper storage systems (FEFO/FIFO) for safe and effective use cannot be overstated. In pharmaceutical information services, pharmacists must provide accurate and clear information to doctors, pharmacists, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and patients. Due to a lack of knowledge and understanding among the public regarding diseases, drugs, and drug therapy, guidance and understanding are needed so that patient adherence to treatment can run smoothly during the healing process. Pharmacists are responsible for providing accurate information to patients, including information on indications, appropriate dosage, how to use, contraindications, side effects, and drug interactions with other drugs or food. Furthermore, drug abuse, particularly narcotics, remains a significant issue and requires continuous education for prevention.
