CONSTRAINTS FACED BY RURAL YOUTH FOR ACHIEVING THEIR OCCUPATIONAL ASPIRATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS TO OVERCOME IT (original) (raw)

The present study was conducted in Latur district of Marathwada region of Maharashtra state. There were ten tehsils in Latur district out of which Latur, Chakur, and Renapur tehsils were selected randomly. For the purpose of the study, four villages from each selected tehsil were selected. Thus, total twelve villages were selected from three tehsils for the study. From each selected village, ten male youth were selected randomly. In this way, a total number of male youths 120 were considered as respondents for the present study. These selections of respondents done by using simple random sampling method for the purpose of the study. Careful examination of the results revealed that, majority of the rural youth expressed that low family income, lack of timely information about opportunities, government policies are not reach to grassroot level, no family support and lack of proper guidance as reported by 70.83 percent,70.00 percent,67.50 percent,65.00 per cent and 55.83 per cent respectively, followed by lack of training facilities (49.17%) and low literacy level in rural area (43.33%).majority (70.83%) of respondents suggested that adequate fund should be provided to needy people followed by, timely information should be provided (70.00%), government policies should reach to grassroot level (67.50%).
