Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the influence exerted by “problem solving” on the learning of arithmetic concepts, especially those associated with repunits (unit repetition), with a view to problem solving as a methodological teaching tool. The work consists of a proposal of a mathematical workshop composed of a collection of problems with different resolution techniques. The target audience of this workshop is students from the 7th grade of Elementary School II, this workshop will have the problem solving approach, defended by Dante. (2003), Polya (2003) and the official education documents, as well as other authors, besides this paper presents a study about the arithmetic properties of the numbers textit repunits, innovating some unpublished propositions related to this class of numbers. integers.
