IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2018

This article examines the management of the government system of Buton Sultanate in one philosophy: "Poromu Yinda Saangu, Pogaa Yinda Koolota". This philosophy is believed to be the unifying of the Buton Sultanate for hundreds of years. This paper is a qualitative descriptive with ethnographic approaches. The results indicate that this philosophy provides insight to the citizens of the Buton sultanate on the importance of relations among elements of government such as Kaomu, Walaka, and Papara. These three elements are likened to a human body consisting of Kaomu as Head, the place of the good brain, brightly lit because it always receives the light of Divine Nur. Walaka is as a body; the heart contains a sacred heart because there is a place where the balance of justice is published. Papara as an accomplice has the power of lahiriyah. The relationship of three elements is bound and intertwined in one philosophy: "It is near but untouchable, it is far away, but no space between them". This implies that all three must unite to uphold justice and common interests, but they should not violate other rights. Therefore, this philosophy can be used as the central management system to build good governance.

It is significant to conduct a study since Muslimat NU in this regency is supported by two district organizing boards, adequate human resources, culturally and socially strong bond, consistently striving for religious and social improvement. This is a qualitative research by selecting chairperson and its boards of Muslimat NU Banyumas and Muslimat NU Sokaraja along with the lower level boards. The data were gathered through interview, FGD (Focus Group Discussion), observation and library research. The result shows thatMuslimat NU women of Banyumas and Sokaraja separates from political and economic power; they place themselves as lifeworld based on its basic principle of spreading virtues for religion, family and community. Even so, placing Muslimat NU women as a power of civil society which enables to act collectively is not a simple issue. This cannot be separated from the widening of social contract to sexual contract apparently seen in Muslimat NU struggle. To some extents, it still takes account of male dominance in decision making. Furthermore, the significant contribution of Muslimat NUBanyumas and Muslimat NU Sokaraja has not urged local government on particular issue. The consistency of their struggle for social and religious improvement concurrently seems to keep Muslimat NU at a distance from political knowledge and experience.

This has been prevalent that the discourse of interreligious dialogue has been overwhelmingly dominated by the elites in the formal spheres. It even seems to be the only standard to examine the issues of interreligious relations, without taking into account the diverse modes of everyday engagements among the people. This then raises the recognition that there is actually no single pattern for interreligious engagement since it would be always contextual according to its distinctive context. It therefore implies the need to learn more from the localities to develop more contextual interreligious engagement. In this regard, this work will examine the interreligious engagement of Christianity and Marapu indigenous religion in Sumba. The data used in this work are based on the field research conducted in 2019 in Southwest Sumba.
