Smart monitoring system of Najran dam
International Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (IJECE), 2020
Najran city faces the flood situation every year due to intensive rain and climatic disturbances. Flooding also causes loss of money, along with loss of life and property and the destruction of agriculture and livestock. Thus, this project proposes a conceptual framework with three main phases: monitoring the water level inside the dam and level in water stream before and after the dam, controlling the opening and closing of the dam gate and measuring the water pressure at the dam barrier. In the case of high water level dam is monitored through water sensors placed at the top of the dam and then these sensors give a reference to the stepper motor and the flow of the stepper motor is controlled by the dam gate. The experimental results shows that the proposed system has the capability to reliably tackle the flood water. It can accurately measure the water level and control the gate of dam as soon as the level of the water reaches to danger level and water pressure at the barrier is measured by the sensor. The developed real-time monitoring system in Najran dam will help authorities to take preventive actions to deal with flood disaster.
Development of dam controller technology water level and alert system using Arduino UNO
Indonesian Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Recently, various water level detection monitoring systems integrations were implemented to various places such as rivers and reservoirs to avoid floods. Thus, it is determined to construct a project primarily focused on water level management, named dam controller technology (DCOTech). DCOTech is a system that controls the amount of water in a reservoir using a microcontroller ATMEGA328p and several functions to prevent flash floods. Water sustainability requires proper monitoring via sensors and a controller. Moreover, a buzzer is used in DCOTech to give a warning signal to the people around and the residents. The water level sensor was constructed with a metal plate attached at both the bottom and top edges of the reservoir. The results obtained met expectations; whenever the sensor detects the water level is low, the green light emitting diode (LED) is turned on; otherwise, when the sensor detects the water level is high, the drain valve is opened, and simultaneously, turned on ...

A micro-controller-based technology has been developed for monitoring and controlling the water quality and quantity in dam reservoirs by using various sensors. This system is able to automatically detect and measure the changes in water and turbidity levels of incoming water for hydropower production. In this project, an Arduino UNO micro-controller and GSM Technology control the operations of the system through sending messages and regulating automatic water valves according to the instant status of the dam water. The developed prototype has four units: sensing unit, processing unit, displaying unit, and alerting unit. In the sensing unit, the ultrasonic sensor continuously monitors the change in water levels and the turbidity sensor takes turbidity measurements of incoming water. In the processing unit, the detected data are collected and fed to the microcontroller for further processing. This technology is expected to reduce the time and cost incurred during the hydropower plant operations by using a small amount of manpower and will facilitate fast information collection.
Auto Controlled DAM with SMS Warning System
_________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT— Water level control and safety of people are the most challenging and important facts when hydroelectric projects are considered. Lack of innovations and implementations of ideas in this field are the key factors which lead to this paper. This paper presents an efficient idea to control the flow of water by controlling the shutter or gate and there by water level management. Also it ensures the safety of people nearby and far by giving warning messages.
