Indian Journal of Science and Technology, 2016

Wireless sensor network has gained increasing attention for the research community and users in the last years. The network layer is responsible for the packet delivery and implements an addressing scheme to accomplish this. It mainly provides the best path for data transfer in wireless sensor network. Routing is the more challenging in wireless sensor network due to their limited recourses in term of available energy, processing capability and communication. So the routing protocol becomes a good area for the research community. Based on the network structure routing protocol divide in two category first is flat routing and second is hierarchical or cluster based routing. Because of some advantage cluster based routing protocol becomes an active protocol for wireless sensor network. In this paper we will study of latest cluster based protocol and comparisons to each other on the base of some parameter and advantages or disadvantages.

The concept of Routing is used to routes the data packets from one place to another. WSNs have recently gained a lot of attention by scientific community. The most important key issue for research purpose in WSN is the Routing protocol. As indicated by organized network the routing protocols can be broadly described as flat and hierarchical routing protocol. The paper presents a few common progressive hierarchical routing protocols in detail and is investigated on their performance in network. Likewise, routing protocols share prominent role in terms of competence in WSN. Due to restrictions of resources in the sensors, it is difficult to plan an effective design of efficient routing protocol. The paper investigated Hierarchical based routing protocols the routing techniques.

A Comparative Study of Existing Cluster-Based Routing Protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks

International Journal of Future Generation Communication and Networking, 2016

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has grown vastly in the past few years and pointing out the crucial need for scalable and energy efficient network. Routing in WSN is challenging task because of limited resources of available energy and processing power. On the basis of network structure, routing protocol in WSN can be classified into two different categories such as flat routing and cluster-based or hierarchical routing. In literature review, researchers proposed a number of routing protocols in WSN. In which cluster-based routing protocols shows better performance as compare to other routing protocols. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to provide a review on some efficient cluster-based routing protocols with advantages and limitations.

New advancements in the technology of wireless sensors have contributed to the development of special protocols which are unique to sensor networks where minimal energy consumption is vital and very important. As a result, the focus and effort of researchers is on designing better routing algorithms for a given application and network architecture of interest. Flat-based routing protocols have been found to be less advantageous to clustering routing protocols when their performance are compared in a large-scale wireless sensor network scenario. This is due to the fact that clustering operation reduces the amount of redundant messages that are transmitted all over the network when an event is detected. This paper is an investigation of cluster-based routing protocols for wireless sensor networks.

Comparison between Hierarchical Based Routing Schemes for Wireless Sensor Network

2014

A Wireless Sensor Network is a collection of sensor nodes that have some properties like low cost, low power, limited network lifetime etc. These sensor nodes are deployed to the region of interest (Area monitoring, Air pollution monitoring, Forest fire detection, Water quality monitoring etc.) for gathering data. An important issue in wireless sensor networks is developing an energy-efficient routing protocol to increase the network lifetime of the network. Routing protocols can be divided on many basis either it is network structure or protocol operation. On the basis of network structure routing protocols can be further divided into three parts (Flat, Clustering-based, location-aware) In this paper, we simulates the static clustering based routing schemes EEPSC (Energy Efficient Protocol with Static Clusteing) and EEEPSC (Extended Energy Efficient Protocol with Static Clustering). Our experimental results show that EEEPSC increases the network lifetime of a wirless sensor network.

Comparative Study of Cluster Based Routing Protocol in Wireless Sensor Network

A WSN involves an ordinarily enormous number of sensor center points, in like manner called bits, passed on in the application circumstance. Bits are equipped with the specific sensors mentioned by the application, and gather information about nature, which is transmitted towards no less than one sink centers (in like manner called base stations). The aim of this research paper is the implementation of simulation models and the simulation of energy-efficient network initialization algorithms. First of all, it is presented a survey of state-of-the-art strategies for network initialization and exploration in wireless ad-hoc networks. Among the routing approaches presented in the survey it has been chosen the clustering-based approach due to it is the most suitable for ad-hoc sensor networks. Following are explained the features and properties of the clustering-based routing algorithms that have been selected for their implementation on this work. These implemented routing protocols are LEACH, TEEN, MODTEEN and APTEEN. On the other hand, all these routing protocols have been implemented and simulated using MATLAB Subsequently, all the protocols have been simulated with different parameters like Number of CHs, Number of Alive Nodes, Number of Dead Nodes, Number of packets to BS, packets to CH and conditions to prove their functionality and to find out their behavior in different sorts of sensor networks.

Recent improvements in the field of micro-electromechanical system, digital electronics and wireless communication technology are responsible for the development in applications of wireless sensor networks. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are consisting of large number of cheap and tiny devices known as sensor nodes. In WSNs, sensor nodes communicate to each other via the many communication approaches and these routing approaches are governed by routing protocols. These routing protocols are reliable for performance of wireless sensor networks. On the basis of these, this paper contains the survey on wireless sensor networks. Based on the network architecture, routing protocols in wireless sensor networks are categorized into three main types: data centric, cluster based or hierarchical routing and location based routing.
