Evaluation of a Home-Based Intervention in Heart Failure Patients. Results of a Randomized Study (original) (raw)

The study evaluates the efficacy of a home-based educational intervention for patients with systolic heart failure, focusing on hospital readmissions, emergency visits, economic costs, and quality of life. Conducted with 70 patients randomly assigned to intervention and control groups, results showed a significant reduction in emergency room visits (0.21 vs. 1.33), hospital admissions (0.09 vs. 0.94), and costs (€1,190.9 difference) for the intervention group, along with improved perceived health and reduced mortality (2 vs. 11). These findings suggest the intervention is beneficial, though replication is recommended due to study limitations.
