Home appliances can be remotely be controlled using home automation system and makes it easily to accessed and effectively controlled. With the use of telecommunication device like mobile phone, computer and electronic technology electrical appliance can be controlled from any part of the world. The main reasons for home automation system are to make peoples’ lives easy, greater amount of energy will be saved and driven more by technology. Among others, home automation systems available are either based on Bluetooth technology, ZigBee technology, Infrared Remote (IR) controller, Radio Frequency (RF) technology. Though these systems are good, unfortunately, they can work effectively from a distance of (100 meters maximum) automation within a particular locality. This pose a big challenge/risk of electrical disaster to people outside their vicinities that mistakenly left their appliances ON/OFF, as the case may be, and could also lead to energy to wastage for appliances left connected to the mains for a period longer than required. Hence the need for effective means of remotely controlling home appliances beyond one's vicinity. This brought about the prose project for home automation using Arduino and GSM module (SIM900). The system uses SMS to send commands in order to remotely turn ON and OFF electrical devices. The system development involves the implementation of different hardware modules such as power supply, GSM, microcontroller, relays, and loads which make up the system as well as programming the system controller.
Home Automation Systems -A Study
With the increase in consumption of energy and population, there is a grave need to conserve energy in every way possible. The inability to access and control the appliances from remote locations is one of the major reasons for energy loss. A web or an android application is used by the users to give instructions to these systems. This system can make use of a host of communication methods such as Wi-Fi, GSM, Bluetooth, ZigBee. Different controlling devices and configurations can be found in existing systems. Such systems have been found already in many places for a wide variety of applications. This paper presents a survey of all such systems.

M2M Wireless communication of various machines and devices in mobile networks is a fast growing business and application area in industry, maintenance business, customer service, security and banking areas. This paper presents design and implementation of remote control system by means of GSM cellular communication network. The design integrates the device to be controlled, the microcontroller, and the GSM module so that it can be used for a wide range of applications. Detailed description and implementation of each design element are presented. To verify the principle operation of the M2M design, two home applications are experimentally tested using PC-based environment 1 .

The Intelligent Home Automation System (IHAS) is usually a cell phone web-b ased application that enab les end users in order to keep track of in addition to manage home/office appliance using their mob ile system. The main ob jective of this system is developed to facilitate home users, especially domestic electrical appliances with simple controls. In addition, it can save the cost of electricity for lighting can b e controlled to suit the user. Generally, most home appliances controlled from a dista nce using a remote control. Has created a system for controlling home lighting from a certain distance, which replaces the remote control using mob ile smartphone. To make the smartphone to function as a remote control, an application was developed using Android technology. App Inventor software used for designing applications intended. Hardware microcontroller Arduino UNO R3 which is used to connect the smartphone to the electrical equipment. The system has b een tested b y developing a mini model and take into account the situation in the domestic home. The test is b ased on the level of control for wirelessly using Bluetooth and the distance b etween the lamp and the smartphone. The results of this test, the system can b e used on equipment or other home appliances for the purpose of controlling or adjustment. In addition, the security system was also highlighted in a typical system, using the glob al system for mobile (GSM), it can b e warned and notified to the consumer where there is a gas leak or the presence of a person in the vicinity of the residence.
Home Automation Using Mobile Communication
In the present paper we have designed and implemented a typical and simple Home Automation System using GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) technology that controls electrical devices at home from a remote location by a simple mobile phone. This is achieved by sending an SMS to receiver present at home which is in turn connected to a hardware kit. The SMS received by the receiver is transmitted to the microcontroller which reads the message and controls the appropriate device. This operation is performed by program written in assembly language code that is stored in the flash memory which is in-built into the microcontroller. The practical implementation of the present prototype has been successful to control some electrical devices using an embedded circuit via SMS.
Now a day's every system is automated to face new challenges in present day situations. The automatic systems erase the need for manual operations and thus are reliable, flexible and more accurate. Hence they are used in every field, especially in electronics automated systems. Probably the most useful things to know are about GSM, It is the only type of cellular service available throughout the world. We make use of this GSM capability to develop a system that control and access various units of home appliances, which executes with respect to the signals sent by mobile. A User has an android based cell phone and by making use of a graphical user interface application he is fully able to know the status of his household equipments. The system is intelligent to monitor and control the water level in the tank and also informs the user about any gas leakage in his house.
The home automation is one of the most emerging trends in modernization of home appliance control. Presently, conventional wall switches are located in different parts of the house and one has to physically go near them and press them to turn the loads on/off. It becomes very difficult for the elderly or physically handicapped people to do so. To demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of this system, devices such as light switches, temperature sensor, gas sensor and motion sensors have been integrated with the proposed home control system. CASE STUDY: ADVANCED HOME AUTOMATION
Home automation is a topic which is gaining popularity day by day, because of large advantages. One can achieve home automation by simply connecting home appliance electrical devices to the internet. The implementation of home automation in this project employs two systems, IoT and speech that are voice controlled based home automation. Internet of Things (IoT) conceptualizes the idea of remotely connecting and monitoring real things through the Internet. When it comes to our house, this concept can be aptly incorporated to make it smarter, safer and automated. The first scheme uses GSM/GPRS technology for controlling the electrical appliances via Internet through a website. The second scheme uses Bluetooth technology for controlling of electrical appliances by voice control when we are at home via an Android app. The proposed system is implemented on Pic 16f877a microcontroller. In this project, the goal is to develop a home automation system that gives the user complete control over all remotely controllable aspects of his or her home. The automation system will have ability to be controlled from a central host PC, the internet, and also remotely accessed with smart phone. Home automation system gives accessibility, comfort, energy efficiency, security by providing control and monitoring of appliances, security surveillance.

HOME AUTOMATION USING RADIO FREQUENCY

They are cost effective, provide wide availability, large consumer base, extensive collection of application notes, availability of low cost or free development tools, and serial programming and re-programming with flash memory capability. An COM port terminal emulation program is use for communication among computer and PIC microcontroller which lead to input and the four channels at the receiver Microcontroller output are connected to the appliances through a relay.
