Comparative analysis of power aware routing protocols in mobile ad-hoc network

International Journal of Engineering & Technology, 2018

The Mobile Ad-Hoc network is a self-governing wireless network having dynamic topology and scattered mobile nodes. Limited power supply is the major challenge in wireless Ad-Hoc networks. Thus, for overall functioning of the ad-hoc network, efficient power conser-vation mechanism becomes the critical and most important component in ad-hoc network. Various power aware routing mechanism have been evolved to preserve energy, prolonging the life span of its nodes and thus of the network itself. Various other metrics for preserving energy also considered viz. selecting shortest path from source to destination, remaining battery power , fair distribution of traffic load among the nodes and minimizing the total transmission power with a view to increase the network life span and link stability. In this paper, various proposed protocols and recent energy conservation mechanisms are studied for mobile ad-hoc network. After analyzing the existing works it has been observed that there are stil...

Power Adjustment Algorithm for Higher Throughput in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

E3S Web of Conferences

In Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs), power control is necessary in order to reduce power consumption rates, avoid collisions within packets, increase spatial throughput of the system and to reduce contention among flows. The MANET nodes which are outside the transmission range are energy constraint and they consume more power for packet transmission. In this paper, we propose to develop a power adjustment algorithm to provide higher throughput and consume less power in the Mobile Ad hoc Networks. An optimal transmission power is calculated at the receiver based upon the data payload length and the interference amount. This power is given to the transmitter which increments or decrements the power with respect to the number of neighboring nodes. The adjusted power is retransmitted to the receiver so that the power level can be adjusted between the transmitter and receiver. Since the optimal transmission power is determined based upon the interference amount the possibility of collisio...

Some Power Management Technology and Algorithm in Mobile Ad Hoc Network

Since the nodes in a MANET are mobile, the routing and power management become critical issues. Voltage reduction is currently the most promising way to save energy in mobile ad hoc network. The major sources of power consumption in the mobile ad hoc network are the transmitter part and the receiver part. Specifically, based on the directional information, a node grows it transmission power until it finds a neighbor node in every direction. The resulting network topology increases network lifetime by reducing transmission power and reduces traffic interference by having low node degrees. Moreover, we show that the routes in the multihop network are efficient in power consumption. We expressed an absolute protocol in which the power consumption of each route can be made arbitrarily close to the optimal by carefully choosing the parameters. In this paper we presents a power management scheme for Transmitter and Receiver Nodes and Processor as well as Device that maximizes energy saving in wireless Adhoc networks up to 10% to 70% while still meeting the required quality of service (QoS).we are presented here some prominent protocol and technology to reduces power consumption in Adh

Trade-off between Energy Consumption and Transmission Rate in Mobile Ad-Hoc Network

International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications, 2021

Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks are decentralized systems of mobile nodes where each node is responsible for computing and retaining the routing and topology details. The autonomous nature of the nodes stresses more on the way of handling power consumptions. This raises a concern about how to improve the power efficiency that leads to a better battery life of the mobile nodes. It is important to balance between power and transmission rates to improve the network lifetime and reduce the sudden failure of the nodes. In this paper, a new transmission power control-based scheme is proposed that allows the mobile nodes to achieve a tradeoff between balancing transmission rate and power consumption. Through defining and updating two tables for every node that contain the average transmission rate for the neighboring nodes and number of times the neighboring node is used for data transmission. We validate our proposed scheme using several test cases.

These techniques require the sender to notify the receiver about the pending traffic using some form of traffic announcement. Asynchronous traffic announcement mechanisms are mostly suitable for the ad-hoc environment. This involves relatively limited power savings. In this, a power saving mechanism is proposed. The aim is to improve the efficiency of asynchronous traffic announcement mechanisms by reducing the proportion of t i m e t h a t n o d e s n e e d to s p e n d awake, by maintaining good connectivity properties. The power save procedure is based on allowing traffic announcements and these are rebroadcast by neighbouring nodes. At last, a comparison is made between with synchronization and without synchronization modes. It is found that without synchronization is effective compared to synchronization mechanism.
