This paper examined the strategies for effective management and organization of business teacher education programme in Nigerian Colleges of education. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study while the population consisted of 200 business education lecturers teaching in government-owned colleges of education in Southwest Nigeria. The simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample of 132 business educators as respondents for the study. A well-structured questionnaire on a 4point-scale was used as instrument for data collection while the reliability test for the instrument yielded coefficient 0.75 using Cronbach Alpha. The data collected were analysed using frequency tables, mean and standard deviation. Four research questions guided the study. Findings revealed that, poor funding, infrastructural deficit and poor working conditions are the major challenges to the effective management and organization of business teacher education programme while adequate funding, engagement of competent personnel and transparency are some of the strategies for effective management and organization of business teacher education programme. Finally, it was recommended that adequate funding, collaboration between institutions and industries as well as public enlightenment campaign and others should be strategies adopted for effective management and organization of business teacher education programme.
Business Teacher Education in Nigeria: projecting a new direction
In about three and a half decades since its introduction, business teacher education has made a modest impact on the teaching profession in Nigeria. However, effort to improve its standard and quality seems to have been slowed down by a number of factors such as low public interest, curriculum structure, inadequate personnel, inadequate material resources for training, and slow adaptation to research and technological challenges. Through assessing the current trends in the profession, the article goes on to project the direction that business teacher education in Nigeria should chart in order to remain vibrant and professionally relevant to the teachers, learners and the nation.

This study investigated the strategies for enhancing quality assurance in business teacher education programme in Nigerian universities. Two research questions and four hypotheses guided the study. This study adopted a descriptive survey design. The population of the study comprised 129 Business Education lecturers in state and federal universities in the south south Nigeria. There was no sampling since the population was manageable. The instrument for data collection was a 35-item questionnaire. The content and face validity of the instrument was adequately handled. It has reliability coefficient of 0.94 using cronbach alpha. The mean scores was used to answer the research questions. The findings identified quality research and publications, quality curriculum, quality text books, discipline of teachers, quality infrastructure, quality teaching facilities among others, as some of the strategies for enhancing quality assurance in Business Teacher Education in Nigerian universities. It was, therefore, recommended that adequate qualified teachers should be employed by the school authorities and Business Education curriculum should be widened to accommodate relevant areas in marketing, accounting, office technology and management.

This paper examined training and supervision as predictors of Business Teachers' Job Performance in NIgerian Public Secondary Schools. Descriptive research design of correlation types was adopted for the study the population consisted fo the entire 1,500 Business related subject teachers from four states in the North Central Geo-Political Zone of Nigeria. 550 sample were purposively selected as the respondents from 20 schools using proportioanl sampling techniques. Structured questionaire was purposively used to collect relevant data from the respondents. However, checklist was used to collect WAEC/SSCE results of the sampled schools. The validility of the instrument was done from three experts from the Department of Business education, Kwara State University. The reliability coefficient of 0.71 was obtained through a split-half method. The two research qustions stated were answered using percentages and cummulative frequency statistical method while the three hypotheses generated were tested using multiple regression analysis. The finding of the study revealed poor performance of student in the Business related subjects. However, there was a moderate level of Business Teacher job performance. Also, both training and supervision were discovered to be the predictors of Business Teacher Job Performance in Nigeria Public Secondary Schools. Regular capacity building such as workshop and conferences were recommended for the Teachers in addition to the regular external and internal supervision. The Governemnt should also supply the neccessary teaching facilities to help teacher improve on teaching and learning.
This study determined business subjects teachers' strategies for effective teaching of business subjects in secondary schools in Umuahia Education Zone, Abia State. Two purposes and corresponding research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study and 78 business subjects teachers were studied without sampling. A structured Questionnaire developed by the researcher was used for data collection. Cronbach alpha method was used to test the internal consistency of the instrument. Data collected were analysed using mean, standard deviation and t-test. Mean was used to answer the research questions and standard deviation was used to explain how the responses of the respondents varied. t-test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significant using the statistical package for Social Sciences (SPSS) to analyse the data. The findings showed that classroom management and provision of modern technological equipment and facilities were rated effective for teaching of business subjects in secondary schools in Umuahia Education zone, Abia State. The findings also revealed that gender and years of experience significantly affected respondents mean ratings in this regard. Based on the findings, the researcher recommended among others that; government should provide funds for regular training and retraining of business subjects teachers to ensure that they are abreast of trends in the changing society

The study examines students' perceptions of the effectiveness of teaching and learning in business studies programs in the polytechnic institutions in Ghana. This research is a replica study (Hamid and Pihie, 2004). Two major factors are employed to measure students' perceptions of effective teaching and learning. They are Lecturers' Characteristics and Teaching Methodology. Findings of the study show how respondents perceive the qualities possessed and exhibited by lecturers with regard to the two main constructs. Descriptive and inferential statistics are reported. F ratio and ANOVA were used to show the significant differences in students' perceptions of the two factors based on age, class, and department. There were significant differences in the perceptions of overall Lecturer Characteristics, and in the perceptions of Teaching Methodology based on these variables. This study aims to assess the factors influencing quality assurance of Business Education programme in Nigerian public Education Colleges of Ogun State. Thus, the study was guided by three research questions and three null hypotheses. Consisting of 245 Business Education students' sampling, the study adopts descriptive survey design. Adapted from Babayemi (2019), Azasu, et. al. (2015) and Salami (2019), this study developed a structured questionnaire, Factors Influencing Quality Assurance of Business Education Programme Questionnaire (FIQABEDQ) as its structured questionanaire. The questionnaire was validated by three experts and applied to the study. Split-half method was utilised to establish reliability coefficient, at 0.83 using Cronbach Alpha. The data generated for the study were analysed using mean and standard deviation. All null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using inferential statistic of ANOVA. The findings showed, among others, that Business Education curriculum moderately influenced the achievement of Business Education Programme's objective. In addition, this study suggests that Business Education curriculum should be revisited and tailored towards equipping for self-employment, among others. Therefore, cooperation and collaboration among Business Education's stakeholders are needed in an attempt to achieve the stated objectives in Business Education by providing ample and proper modern facilities in their tertiary institutions.

This paper focused on the assessment of the management of business teacher education in colleges of education in the South East zone of Nigeria. Two research questions were generated and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The stu dy adopted a survey research design. The study area is South East Nigeria. The population of the study comprised 132 lecturers from the seven federal and state owned Colleges of Education in the South East zone. The whole population was studied because it is manageable. A four - point scale questionnaire was developed by the researcher to enable her collect data for the study. Quality Assurance of Business Education Programme in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria

Purpose: This paper discussed the concept of business education programme and the need for quality assurance in tertiary institutions. It examined the important roles of NUC, NCCE and TRCN in assuring quality in business education programme in Nigeria. Design/methodology/approach: This paper focused on the underlined heading as follows: objectives of business education, needs for business education ,quality assurance measuring parameters, constraints of quality assurance in business education such as; inadequate funding; staff recruitment; inadequate teaching and learning materials , control measures of quality assurance in business education, current efforts of ensuring quality in business education in Nigeria were discussed. Findings: On this note, it was recommended that Business Education curriculum should be revisited and tailored towards equipping for self-employment, among others. Therefore, cooperation and collaboration among Business Education's stakeholders are needed in an attempt to achieve the stated objectives in Business Education by providing ample and proper modern facilities in tertiary institutions. Also, accreditation teams should be selected based on their integrity and not who you know, by this institutions will comply to put in place all the needful in order to be accredited.
