This paper examines the role of Information and Communication Technology in the Teaching and Learning of History in the Senior Secondary School in the 21 st century. The new Information and communication technologies of internet and multimedia which have led to positive impact in the field of education in most developed countries are still at infancy or not used at all in the classroom instruction in the developing countries. ICTs are potential powerful enabling tools for effective teaching and learning. The paper argues that the central role of ICT is to provide additional strategies that can be used to address major educational challenges being faced by teachers and students of History in the 21 st century. The paper therefore concludes that the appropriate use of ICT can influence and change traditional methods of teaching and learning of History thereby ensuring quality education.

This research work aim to examine the use of Information and Communication Technology in the Teaching of History in the Senior Secondary School in Bassa local Government Council of Plateau state. The new Information and communication technologies of internet and multimedia which have led to positive impact in the field of education in most developed countries are still at infancy or not used at all in the classroom instruction in the developing countries. ICTs are potential powerful enabling tools for effective teaching and learning. The research argues that the central role of ICT is to provide additional strategies that can be used to address major educational challenges being faced by teachers and students of History in the 21st century. The researcher review some related literatures from the research topic to backup the background of the study and the research work. The descriptive survey research was adopted for the study and questionnaires were used for the purpose of data collection. The population for the research covers secondary schools that teach history in Bassa Local Government while the sample for the study consisted of a total of 240 students and 12 teachers. The data collected in the study was analyzed and from the findings of the study it was discovered that the use of ICT in the research area will make the teaching of history easier and simple also the appropriate use of ICT can influence and change traditional methods of teaching and learning of History thereby ensuring quality education, students can learn at their own pace, the findings also shows that there is lack of ICT facilities in the research area. It limits the use of ICT among the teachers. Base on the findings of the study, it was recommended that ICT facilities should be made available in schools and teachers should be educated on how they can use those facilities in teaching and learning history, ICT is an instrument for the economics and technological development in the 21st century therefore Bassa Local Government Area cannot afford to be on the wrong side of the digital devices

This paper presents the findings of research which had, as its primary purpose, the examination of the effectiveness of teaching, but also the improvement of the very teaching of History by utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The traditional methods of teaching History, which are put into practice in Greek schools, do not achieve substantial results, as shown by a wealth of research. Thus, the goal of our research was to investigate the possibilities provided by ICT, so as to improve this teaching. The research was carried out for two years and was based on the interdisciplinary teaching of History, with the utilization of ICT, in High Schools of Thessaloniki Prefecture (Macedonia-Greece).

This paper is based on the findings that arose from history lessons that took place within the context of a research study carried out on a diverse student population at various Secondary Schools (Junior and Senior High Schools). The objective of this research was to examine the effectiveness of history teaching methods employing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in comparison to other traditional methods that were applied during the learning process.

" Does the use of ICT improve the understanding of History teaching?"

This research aims to investigate whether the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in classroom can actually improve the understanding of History teaching in comparison with the traditional teaching-centered way. Data will be collected by using a questionnaire after teaching students by using both methods. The respondents will be students of two public primary schools of Heraklion Crete. I personally conducted the whole research and the results will be collected and statistically analyzed by me in person, in order to reach some useful conclusions regarding the two different methods of teaching.

The Use of Digital Technology as a Medium of Teaching and Learning History Education

History learning is a core subject at secondary school level. It is compulsory for student to pass History in order to get a full SPM certification. However, this subject is often associated with conventional and static methods of teaching and learning. Abreast with today's digital world, history learning requires a contemporary approach by incorporating technology to ensure students understanding and mastery in history learning. Therefore, this paper discusses issues related to the use of educational technology in history learning. Issues pertaining to the use of digital technology in the teaching and learning of History will be listed and discussed. The theories and the models of learning used in this paper connectivism Theory and Constructivist Theory. Models and theories that supports the use of digital technology in reading and learning especially through YouTube app will be discussed further. The competence of teachers in utilizing technology is given attention to as it can cause a teaching and learning gap between teachers and pupils. Hence this paper will examine some of the past studies related to the use of digital technology which affects the quality of learning history. Previous studies have shown that learning and teaching history using digital technology has increased students' understanding and interest in learning history. It is hoped that through this study, learning history will be more systematic and will have maximum impact on students.

A study about using internet in History lessons

Internet has become an important part in the field of education as it is in every area nowadays as well. Internet has become appealing among educators and students with its easy and quick access and wide opportunities. In this study, an application of using internet in the history course was done. 160 students who were enrolled in College of Education in Adiyaman University participated in this study. The present study is a qualitative study which is consisted of 4 parts. According to results of the study, students found the internet enhanced history course more effective than the traditional one. It is also found that students liked the internet enhanced course more since it is easy to access a lot of materials about the course. It is also found that students have some concerns about the trustworthiness of the information on the web. ICT Education: Digital History Learners

This article is to review and understand the new generation of students to understand their expectations and attitudes. There are a group of students on school projects, creative work, educational software and digital signal source, the use of social networking tools to communicate with friends and a part in the competition. Today's students have been described as the new millennium students. They use information and communication technology in a more creative and innovative at home than at school, because the information and communication technologies for different purposes, in the home, usually occur in school. They collaborate and communicate more effectively when they are at home. Most children enter school, they will bring about how to use information and communication technologies, some basic skills and some tips on how to use information and communication technology will provide a more advanced than most of the school's expectations. Many teachers can help students, however, still a lot of work, "tradition", without a computer, and did not see the "new social computing networks describe young people to learn and new ways of working life in the future", in the education system of the benefits of using a computer.

The Designing of Technology Based History Learning (The Application of Technology Based Survey Result in the Lectures of History Education Study Program at Uhamka and Unj)

The 2013 curriculum is developed for anticipating the development of sciences in the age of 21st century, either in the treatment or in the model of teaching and learning. The Model of learning that should be had developed by the teachers was the model which could shape the ability of students to have the competition to access any kind of information, so that they are enable to develop their own knowledges by their selves. The History education is the material subject that was full of the information and could use any kind of sources formally from internet. This research was the survey to the lectures of history education program study in Uhamka and UNJ about the use of technology in learning and supporting the failure from many sides. From the result of the survey was made the design of history learning by the technological basis, so that the students enable to use the sources that could make the history learning process became fun and meaningful.
