This article provides an overview of the research that has been carried out in the archaeological park of Baiae in September 2016 thanks to a cooperation between the Archaeological Institute of the University of Cologne and the Institute of Baugeschichte and Denkmalpflege of the Technische Hochschule Cologne by courtesy of the Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici di Napoli. Preliminary a brief summary of the famous bath spots history located at the gulf of Naples is given to be followed by a short explanation how the project came into being. Afterwards some results of the geophysical prospection are presented. Subsequent the workshop for students to learn the basics of measurement that took place in the archaeological park from 05.09.–18.09.2017 and the measuring with the 3D-laserscanner will be explained. Finally some first results of the new three-dimensional measurement are shown

The following article is another result of the ongoing research on ancient Baiae. Among other things, the area surrounding the so-called Diana Temple, which will later be referred to as sector A, was surveyed anew with a 3D laser scanner. This area is currently only insufficiently connected to the area of the Parco archeologico delle Terme di Baia and also shows ambiguities in the open spaces and problems, which calls for a more comprehensive discussion of the topic. Janina Oprée devoted herself to this task as part of her master‘s thesis in the architecture department of the Technische Hochschule Cologne. The aim of the thesis was to develop a new concept and an effective connection of sector A to the adjacent area of the archaeological park through urban planning and infrastructural analysis of the area. After a short introduction of sector A and an archaeological classification, the explanations of the newly developed integration and development concept will follow.
Neue Forschungen zum antiken Baiae – Teil II
KuBA, 2017
From 13.03.–14.04.2017 a second season was carried out in the Archaeological Park of Baiae. During the campaign, five sondages that were spread out throughout the area of the park were stratigraphically excavated. Due to the finds and discoveries obtained, preliminary chronological classifications and interpretation of the documented stratification as well as results from the ceramological and archaeozoological analysis of the finds, can be presented for the first time in this article. In addition to the excavation work, the surveying of the preserved structures with a 3D laser scanner, which was begun in 2016, could be continued and completed.
