Entrepreneurship and private sector development are essential ingredients for achieving the Millennium Development Goal of reducing poverty. Most tertiary institutions in Ghana spend a lot of time and resources equipping their students with the right skills to turn ambitions into successful ventures. However, some graduates still seek employment in already established firms and those who are unable to acquire their intended jobs remain unemployed despite all attempts made to make entrepreneurship attractive. Pemilihan karier merupakan pengambilan keputusan siswa atas dasar pemahaman potensi. Beberapa masalah lulusan sekolah kejuruan saat ini termasuk kurangnya kemampuan pengetahuan (potensi) diri; belum dapat memutuskan rencana setelah lulus, apakah bekerja, kuliah, atau wiraswasta; kekurangan pemahaman jenis pekerjaan; belum mampu menggabungkan potensi pekerjaan yang akan dipilih; dan belum bisa merencanakan kariernya. The study examines the influence of vocational factors on the career choice of vocational and technical education students in Ekiti State University. The study employed a survey research design with a population of (619) VTE students. The sample size of the study was (234) using the Krejcie and Morgan sample technique to select the sample size. A primary source of data was used to collect the data through the administration of a questionnaire. Crambach's alpha coefficient value of 0.816 indicates that the instrument was acceptable. The method of data analysis used is descriptive and correlation statistics to test the research questions and hypotheses. The finding revealed the correlation coefficient and P-value of parental guidance service (r=.114<P=.124 at 0.05); personal attitude (r=.225>P=.124 at 0.05) and societal stigmatisation (r=.222>P=.124 at 0.05). The implication of these findings was an indication that there was a positive significance exists between the explanatory variables on the career choice of VTE students" in Ekiti State University. Also, vocational guidance should be offered to all secondary school students in choosing the career of their choice. Based on these findings, the study, therefore, recommends that vocational guidance should not depend on parental guidance in chosen career choices. There should be public enlightenment about the VTE programme to remove the societal stigmatisation, and students with good personal traits should be encouraged to go for the career of their choice.

Career choice is one of the most important decision to be made throughout an individual's life, especially students. The study aims to investigate the factors affecting career choice namely; family influence, personal interests, economic considerations, and career adaptability, among students in Polytechnic Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah (POLIMAS), Jitra, Kedah. A total of number of 286 students responded to the questionnaire and only 278 were usable for analysis. The data has been analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0 software. Several statistical tools were used such as Cronbach's Alpha reliability test, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and regression analysis. The result of this study showed that all independent variables namely; family influence, personal interests, economic considerations, and career adaptability have significant and positive relationship to career choice. It is recommended for future studies to extend the sample size to include unemployed graduates, students from both public and private universities, as well as students from various disciplines.
The Factors Influencing the Choice of Career Among Secondary School Students in Turbat
Abstract: Open the page of history in the world most of the successful persons become reached to their targeted goals at any field, have gotten right choice of career at the right time in their life. On the other hand, if one had not selected the right career on time, they would have not gotten their aims. Career choice is an uphill task for the students to choose career in secondary school because they do not know how to match their career with their own abilities. In Turbat there is no a clear process of career counseling for the students in choosing subjects when they get free from school move to college not aware about field so it generates many question in mind of students to get the answer from scholars. In this purpose I conduct the research to examine factors which influencing the choice of career among secondary school students in Turbat. The respondents were selected for this study from 10th and 9th class in high school Turbat city for both genders. (Male and female).the technique was applied by using questionnaire for data collection in different factors related to choice of career with the thirty statements.The design of questionnaire on basis of likert type scale on the factors influencing the choice of career among schools that were based on environment, opportunity and personality.

Making a career choice is a defining phase in every student's life. Students have to consider several factors before arriving at a decision. The purpose of this research was to see the factors which affect the choice of career among students. This study investigated the influence of several factors such as parental education, profession and income on the career decisions of 432 students from two public sector universities in Lahore city. The influence of peers on the respondents' choice of subject specialization was also investigated along with any impressions taken from the media. It also examined whether students at the MS level opt for their chosen fields forcefully, make compromises, or make decisions which are independent and without external pressures. Data was collected through a questionnaire and in-depth interviews. The results show the parents influence as most significant, followed by influence from peers, gender, print media, financial reasons, interest and others.
The Factors Determining the Choice of Career Among Secondary School Students
100 students were randomly selected from five secondary schools in ogun state. The sample consists of 37males and 63females. A questionnaire designed on the basis of likert-type scale on the factors determining the choice of career based on environment, influence and opportunity of the students was administered. Their responses were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation and T-test at p.05.Significant difference was found on the environmental factor (t cal at p.05=220.25,t crit =1.960),Significant difference was also found on the personality(t cal at p.05=673.48;t crit 1.960)and the significant difference of the opportunity the students see(t cal at p.05=148.69;t crit 1.960).The percentage on male and female was also carried out. 52% of male and 46% of female agreed that opportunity do affect career while 42% disagreed for both male & female, 51% of male and 51% of female agreed that personality do affect career choice while 42% and 45% of both male and female disagreed, 50% of male and 54% of female agreed that environment do affect career choice but 41% and 49% of male& female does not agree. Conclusively, all the factors affect the students in determining their career.
The aims of this research were to investigate the perceptions of Grade 10 students in Kabatan National High School toward vocational education and to understand the factors influencing students’ choice. These were considered as starting points to create plans for applicable intervention in order to progress students’ choice for Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) track. This study employed mixed methods design and utilized purposive sampling so it included all one hundred twenty five (125) G10 students. The data sources were a semi-structured interview guide and a self-made Perception on Vocational Education and Choice Factors questionnaire. To analyze the data collected, hypothetical range and weighted mean were used. Collective perceptions on vocational education of Grade 10 students were reflected on the agreement of the following statements with topmost weighted means of 2.98 and 2.74 respectively: (a) Vocational education is not my line of interest and (b) Vocational education is demanding in terms of effort and finances. This implied that they had false impression about the kind of education that vocational courses can provide them and had considered vocational training as tiring and costly. Parental influence was found to highly influence the G10 students not to choose vocational track with highest weighted mean value of 3.03 since their parents want them to pursue academic track. The developed action plan shall correct the misconceptions of the students and parents. It shall include a number of career advocacy activities such as career awareness caravan. All of these are for the purpose of providing opportunities for parents and students to attend lectures on TVL courses which will eventually direct them to a second look on vocational education. There are numerous factors which affect the career decision of higher secondary students which includes parents" choice and expectations, students" own interest in a specific field, independence to work in future, location of institute, financial aspect and many more. Studying these factors is important for students as well as for parents so that students can take the right decision and parents can support them and can guide them accordingly. The study intends to present the impact of various internal factors like independence at work, contribution to society, feeling of high social status and prestige and external factors such as parents" choice, Government Admission Policies, higher income expectations and location of the future institute on career decisions of higher secondary students. The study also attempts to find the significant difference effect of these factors on male and female students and its impact on their career decision of getting into business, pursuing a profession or getting employed. This paper draws on a quantitative study conducted over 152 respondents following descriptive research design using a structured questionnaire. The data is analysed using Anova to check the significant difference between factors and chi-square test to check the dependence of career decisions on internal and external factors. The survey result brings out the fact that career decisions are more impacted by external factors as compared to internal factors. Higher expected earnings, independence at work and location are one of the most important factors while deciding career. Males and females have no significant difference in taking their career decisions. Parental choice, family income, educational expenses, expected earning, admission policies and location were found to be have significant impact on career decisions of college aspirants.
