Wearable Biosensor: How to Improve the Efficacy in Data Transmission in Respiratory Monitoring System

International Journal of Electronics and Telecommunications, 2023

Respiratory rate measurement is important under different types of health issues. The need for technological developments for measuring respiratory rate has become imperative for healthcare professionals. The paper presents an approach to respiratory monitoring, with the aim to improve the accuracy and efficacy of the data monitored. We use multiple types of sensors on various locations on the body to continuously transmit real-time data, which is processed to calculate the respiration rate. Variations in the respiration rate will help us identify the current health condition of the patient also for diagnosis and further medical treatment. The software tools such as Keil µVision IDE, Mbed Studio IDE, Energia IDE are used to compile and build the system architecture and display information. EasyEDA is used to provide pin map details and complete architecture information.

A Novel Remote Rehabilitation System with the Fusion of Noninvasive Wearable Device and Motion Sensing for Pulmonary Patients

Computational and mathematical methods in medicine, 2017

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a type of lung disease caused by chronically poor airflow that makes breathing difficult. As a chronic illness, it typically worsens over time. Therefore, pulmonary rehabilitation exercises and patient management for extensive periods of time are required. This paper presents a remote rehabilitation system for a multimodal sensors-based application for patients who have chronic breathing difficulties. The process involves the fusion of sensory data-captured motion data by stereo-camera and photoplethysmogram signal by a wearable PPG sensor-that are the input variables of a detection and evaluation framework. In addition, we incorporated a set of rehabilitation exercises specific for pulmonary patients into the system by fusing sensory data. Simultaneously, the system also features medical functions that accommodate the needs of medical professionals and those which ease the use of the application for patients, including exercises for tracking...

A Wearable Multimodal Wireless Sensing System for Respiratory Monitoring and Analysis

Sensors

Wireless sensing systems are required for continuous health monitoring and data collection. It allows for patient data collection in real time rather than through time-consuming and expensive hospital or lab visits. This technology employs wearable sensors, signal processing, and wireless data transfer to remotely monitor patients’ health. The research offers a novel approach to providing primary diagnostics remotely with a digital health system for monitoring pulmonary health status using a multimodal wireless sensor device. The technology uses a compact wearable with new integration of acoustics and biopotentials sensors to monitor cardiovascular and respiratory activity to provide comprehensive and fast health status monitoring. Furthermore, the small wearable sensor size may stick to human skin and record heart and lung activities to monitor respiratory health. This paper proposes a sensor data fusion method of lung sounds and cardiograms for potential real-time respiration patt...
