A escrita e o conhecimento em Platão: uma reflexão sobre os elementos dialógicos no Teeteto (Revista Reflexões, vol. 4, 2015) (original) (raw)

Given the prominent function of written texts in philosophical production in general, the goal of this paper is to present a reflection on the role of dialogues within the context of the relationship between writing and philosophy in Plato. Therefore, we seek to recapitulate the main theoretical approaches on this matter: the perspectives which lessen the function of writing and, hence, the written dialogue as a possible form for philosophical knowledge, and those which consider it as a complex construct that allows the investigation. We follow the views of McCabe (2006), Trabattoni (2010), Cotton (2014), Reale (2007). We argue that the dialogue provides with an active envolvement of its reader, enabling him to build his knowledge, as a consequence of the complexity of dialogical construction: the different framings, the use of irony, the aporias etc. For this, we propose a brief analysis of theTheaetetus, seeking to identify some elements of the genre dialogue and to demonstrate the mechanisms of which it serves to provide an active reading, in which it would be possible to overcome the limitations mentioned by Plato himself in his criticism of writing.
