Petrographic Analyses of Fourth Millennium B. C. Pottery and Stone Vessels from the Northern Negev, Israel (original) (raw)
This study presents a petrographic analysis of pottery and stone vessels from the northern Negev region of Israel, dated to the Fourth Millennium B.C. It aims to enhance understanding of the raw materials, production methods, and socio-economic contexts of these artifacts. Through the examination of over 400 thin sections from more than 20 archaeological sites, the research reveals significant insights into trade links and cultural exchanges, particularly relating to the influences of Transjordanian artifacts. The findings indicate that pottery plays a crucial role in interpreting the daily life and economic activities of Chalcolithic communities.
