Generation and stabilization of short soliton pulses in the amplified nonlinear Schrödinger equation
1988
The nonlinear Schrbdinger equation (NLS), with its modified forms, is the central equation for the description of nonlinear pulse propagation in optical fibers. There are a number of different physical situations in which coupling between waves leads to energy transfer. In such systems, ultrashort pulses have been observed to form during propagation. In this paper we show that much of this behavior can be understood by considering the effects of gain in the NLS. We also show that perturbations of the NLS do not destroy these results, provided that the modified equation possesses solitary-wave solutions.
Formation and propagation of solitons using the generalized non-linear Schrödinger equation
Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics, 2006
This study presents the non-linearity and dispersion effects involved in the propagation of optical solitons which can be understood by using a numerical routine to solve the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation. This equation combines the effects of group velocity dispersion and self-phase modulation present in optical fibers and also takes into account the loss of optical fiber. A sequence of codes has been developed in Matlab, to explore in depth several features of the optical soliton's formation and propagation. The results give a very clear idea of this interesting and important practical phenomenon.
Unperturbed and perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger system for optical fiber solitons
Physics Letters A, 2000
We have investigated numerically the different profiles of solitary pulses resulting from the resolution of the unperturbed Ž . and perturbed nonlinear Schrodinger equation NLS . From the two models applied to the unperturbed NLS, the numerical results reveal that different shapes for the solitary pulse can be obtained. Moreover we can, by the means of some important solution parameters, modify these waves as the applications need particularly those related to transmission by optical fibers. Using the complex quintic Ginzburg-Landau model, the effect of perturbation on the solitary pulses stability is studied. Furthermore consequences which result from apparition of new phenomena, such as the soliton collapse are discussed. q
Modulation analysis and optical solitons of perturbed nonlinear Schrodinger equation
Revista Mexicana De Fisica, 2021
We investigate modulation analysis and optical solitons of perturbed nonlinear Schrodinger equation (PNLSE). The PNLSE has terms of cubic nonlinearity and self-steepening and spatio-temporal dispersion (STD). Proposed model has been studied by [14, 15] without self-steepening term. The presence of the STD and self-steepening can help to compensate the low GVD to the model. Bright and dark solitary waves, trigonometric, periodic andsingular optical solitons are obtained by some expansion methods including exponential and sinh-Gordon. Obtained results will hold a significant place in the field of nonlinear optical fibers, where solitons are used to codify data.
Soliton formation from a pulse passing the zero-dispersion point in a nonlinear Schrodinger equation
Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics, 2000
We consider in detail the self-trapping of a soliton from a wave pulse that passes from a defocusing region into a focusing one in a spatially inhomogeneous nonlinear waveguide, described by a nonlinear Schrodinger equation in which the dispersion coefficient changes its sign from normal to anomalous. The model has direct applications to dispersion-decreasing nonlinear optical fibers, and to natural waveguides for internal waves in the ocean. It is found that, depending on the (conserved) energy and (nonconserved) "mass" of the initial pulse, four qualitatively different outcomes of the pulse transformation are possible: decay into radiation; self-trapping into a single soliton; formation of a breather; and formation of a pair of counterpropagating solitons. A corresponding chart is drawn on a parametric plane, which demonstrates some unexpected features. In particular, it is found that any kind of soliton(s) (including the breather and counterpropagating pair) eventually ...

In mono-mode optical fibers, the higher order non-linear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) describes the propagation of enormously short light pulses. We constructed optical solitons and, solitary wave solutions of higher order NLSE mono-mode optical fibers via employing modified extended mapping method which has important applications in Mathematics and physics. Furthermore, the formation conditions are also given on parameters in which optical bright and dark solitons can exist for this media. The moment of the obtained solutions are also given graphically, that helps to realize the physical phenomena's of this model. The modulation instability analysis is utilized to discuss the model stability, which verifies that all obtained solutions are exact and stable. Many other such types of models arising in applied sciences can also be solved by this reliable, powerful and effective method. The method can also be functional to other sorts of higher order nonlinear problems in contemporary areas of research.
Nonlinear Analysis: Modelling and Control
This paper obtains the dark, bright, dark-bright, dark-singular optical and singular soliton solutions to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with quadratic-cubic nonlinearity (QC-NLSE), which describes the propagation of solitons through optical fibers. The adopted integration scheme is the sine-Gordon expansion method (SGEM). Further more, the modulation instability analysis (MI) of the equation is studied based on the standard linear-stability analysis, and the MI gain spectrum is got. Physical interpretations of the acquired results are demonstrated. It is hoped that the results reported in this paper can enrich the nonlinear dynamical behaviors of the PNSE.

The nonlinear Schrödinger equations (NLSEs) describe the promulgation of ultra-short pluse in optical fibers. The modify unstable nonlinear Schrödinger equation (mUNLSE) is a universal equation of the class of nonlinear integrable systems in NLSEs, which governs certain instabilities of modulated wave-trains. This equation also describes the time evolution of disturbances in marginally stable or unstable media. In the current work, the aim is to investigate the mUNLSE analytically by utilizing proposed modified extended mapping method. New exact solutions are constructed in the different form such as exact dark soliton, exact bright soliton, bright-dark soliton, solitary wave, elliptic function in different form and periodic solutions of mUNLSE. Furthermore, we also present the formation conditions of the bright soliton and dark soliton of this equation. The modulation instability analysis is implemented to discuss the stability analysis of the attained solutions and the movement role of the waves is examined, which confirms that all constructed solutions are exact and stable.

In this article, we investigate the optical soiltons and other solutions to Kudryashov’s equation (KE) that describe the propagation of pulses in optical fibers with four non-linear terms. Non-linear Schrodinger equation with a non-linearity depending on an arbitrary power is the base of this equation. Different kinds of solutions like optical dark, bright, singular soliton solutions, hyperbolic, rational, trigonometric function, as well as Jacobi elliptic function (JEF) solutions are obtained. The strategy that is used to extract the dynamics of soliton is known as [Formula: see text]-model expansion method. Singular periodic wave solutions are recovered and the constraint conditions, which provide the guarantee to the soliton solutions are also reported. Moreover, modulation instability (MI) analysis of the governing equation is also discussed. By selecting the appropriate choices of the parameters, 3D, 2D, and contour graphs and gain spectrum for the MI analysis are sketched. The...
Stable transmission of solitons in the region of normal dispersion
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2000
We study in detail stability of exact chirped solitary-pulse solutions in a model in which stabilization of the pulses is achieved by means of short segments of an extra lossy core, which is parallel coupled to the main one. We demonstrate that, in the model's three-dimensional parameter space, there is a vast region in which the pulses are fully stable, for both signs of the group-velocity dispersion. These results open the way to a stable transmission of solitary optical pulses in the normal-dispersion region and thus to an essential expansion of the bandwidth offered by the nonlinear optical fibers for telecommunications in the return-to-zero regime. In the cases in which the pulses are unstable, we study the development of the instability, which may end by either blowing up or decaying to zero. In the case when the pulses are stable, we also simulate interactions between them, concluding that they always eventually merge into one pulse.
