Fishing (in) Aegean seascapes: early Aegean fishermen and their world. (original) (raw)

This chapter explores the interaction between prehistoric communities and their seascapes in the northern Aegean, focusing on the Neolithic period. It challenges the prevailing emphasis on Bronze Age seascapes by investigating various degrees of human exploitation of marine resources and environmental settings in these early communities. Through the analysis of zooarchaeological data, the study aims to delineate the physical and cultural boundaries of Aegean seascapes and their significance in the livelihoods of early fishermen.
