The Effect of City Parameters on Urban Heat Island (original) (raw)

The formation of urban heat island mainly is due to many factors, such as meteorological factors and city parameters. The city parameters, such as low albedo materials, urban geometry, high density, anthropogenic heat and the like, are the most important factors which responsible for the formation of it. One of the great challenges is how to mitigate the harmful effects of UHI and make the sustainable city. In the first place, recognition of UHI and the root cause of problems are essential. Then With the case study of the city of Tehran, this paper focuses on city parameters and their effects on Tehran UHI and classifies them as the main factors. To achieve this aim, this article reviews current knowledge about the urban heat island to understand the way of formation of UHI, the effects of city parameters on UHI, and then classify these effects, make some recommendations for preventive action and provide quality of life and sustainability in city.
