Tools dedicated to the Electromagnetic Modelling of Power Structures
The aim of this article is to propose a modelling environment including several simulation tools which allows evaluating the electrical parasitic characteristics of components, the current distribution inside power electronics structures or the radiated field. At the end, it is then possible to conclude upon the EMC performances of power converter with its environment inside a complete structure which can be an automotive system and to achieve an expertise of the design.
An Electromagnetic Circuit Simulator for Power Electronics
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2012
A method for solving the full equations of Maxwell for circuits with discrete nonlinear, nonideal elements is presented. To this end, the method of moments is used in combination with a classical circuit simulator. Both operate in the frequency domain. A few methods to greatly accelerate the calculations are also presented. The methods are implemented and tested in Matlab.
Overview of Electromagnetic Modeling Software
2009
Computational electromagnetic modeling (CEM) software is widely used to model antennas, microwave circuits, circuit boards, components, shielded enclosures, cables, motors, sensors, actuators and a wide variety of electrical and electronic devices. The general features, capabilities and costs vary greatly among different codes and new codes are introduced on a regular basis. This paper provides an overview of currently available CEM codes grouped by type, cost and the specific numerical techniques they employ.
Computation of electromagnetic field radiated by power electronic converters
2008
The use of power electronic converters is strongly increased these last years, which increases the electromagnetic interference (EMI). In this work we propose to compute the electromagnetic field distribution for characterizing the electromagnetic perturbations emitted by the power converters circuits. For this objective we use two different modeling; the first is based on the resolution of Maxwell equations by FDTD and the second by using the Hertzian dipole concept and the modified images theory. These two approaches are compared in term of the precision, implementation and computation time consuming. Also, we propose a comparison with FEKO software which is based on the antenna theory. The obtained results show that the dipole method which is simpler to implement give satisfactory results.

This study deals with near-field probes integration onto power electronic modules for the magnetic field measurement. In this paper, electromagnetic disturbances characterization is investigated. A loop-antenna-type, its design and its modeling are detailed. The measurement obtained on a buck power converter are presented. An analysis of conducted currents within the power module is developed. Based on them, it is shown that the probe measurements allow recovering the characteristics and the distribution of the electromagnetic disturbances.
Simulation Tools for Power Electronics- " An Overview "
This paper presents various simulation tools for educational and professional purposes in the area of power electronics. Power Electronics based circuit is used in power system, Electrical drive, FACTS Controllers etc. Simulation tools for Power Systems, FACTS devices are also listed here. The application of simulation software and program provide a powerful tool in the technology of electrical & electronics. Simulation tools provide saving of time, cost, require less space and have better and speedy optimization analysis. Due to above mentioned advantage it would be desirable to replace designing and testing type prototype hardware by simulation software.
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2000
As the first part of a study that aims to propose tools to take into account some electromagnetic compatibility aspects, we have developed a model to predict the electric and magnetic fields emitted by a device. This model is based on a set of equivalent sources (electric and magnetic dipoles) obtained from the cartographies of the tangential components of electric and magnetic near fields. One of its features is to be suitable for a commercial electromagnetic simulation tool based on a finite element method. This paper presents the process of modeling and the measurement and calibration procedure to obtain electromagnetic fields necessary for the model; the validation and the integration of the model into a commercial electromagnetic simulator are then performed on a Wilkinson power divider.
