Abstract There are over 4700 B-schools in India, as per records and more than Four lakh management graduates are passing out every year. But, it is an undisputable fact that a vast majority of these graduates fail in acquiring a decent placement. One of the reasons cited for poor employability is the gap between the industry expectations and the academic inputs in management education. Bridging this gap is a widely discussed problem in the field of management education. In this context, it will be interesting to understand in detail the employer perception of the quality of the present generation of management graduates and methods to improve the same. Objectives: To understand the employer’s viewpoint about the quality of current generation of management graduates and suggestions for improving the same. Also, to share the perception of Industry to those involved in the development of Business Education Curriculum. Method: The study was conducted by analyzing the content of the open ended questions which were asked to Employers who hire fresh management graduates regularly. The dataset comprised of 95 respondents who belonged to a few different sectors of industry in India. Findings: The employers rate the overall quality of the fresh management graduates at 60 percent only. The content analysis of the responses of the respondents also brings out the major areas of focus needed in order to improve student quality and overall quality of the institution. Implications: The paper brings out the necessity for improving the quality of management education with regard to “Soft skills” of future managers and the need for benchmarking the levels of these skills to an accepted standard. The purpose of this descriptive study is to identify self-perceived importance and competence of management students towards NACE’s top ten skills emerged as the most desirable abilities in fresh graduates by employers. Using paired t-test analysis the study measures the impact of two-week foundation training in soft skills upon students’ self-perceived importance and competence in these ten skills. Finally the study uses the Borich (1980) needs assessment model to identify those skills to be given highest priority in upcoming training modules in order to enhance students’ employability. The respondents were the current MBA students’ in AlBarkaat Institute of Management Studies-Aligarh, affiliated with Mahamaya Technical University, Uttar Pradesh. Employability Skills of MBA Students at Entry Level: an Employers and Students Perspective
Enhancing employability skills of management students is challenge before the institutes of management education. Management education is not able to identify the way and out to develop employability skills also in a puzzle to select a proper approach that may have more employability alternatives to management students. Today institutions are carrying a traditional education system which is focusing on knowledge based education. Institutions should adopt vocational based and practical based education. The core objective of any management institute is to deliver attributes, skills. Basic purpose of any business school is to impart the business ability, which will help students for their employability and entrepreneurship. After completing management education, getting employment, is a must for the management graduates. The reputation of the management institutes in this context, badly affect than the students of that institute. In order to simplify, what is perception and expectation of industry on employability skills of management students which will help them to get an employment and survive there. This is also an attempt to know the perception of MBA student's possession of employability skills at entry level in job market. The Role of Soft Skills on Business Graduates Employability

83 Abstract – This study aims to investigate the impacts of soft skills possessed by graduates from a public university on their employment opportunity. Previous studies revealed that soft skills are crucial for their employability. A total of 234 graduates were selected as the sample of this study. The data analysis by SPSS found that employability was positively associated with leadership skills, teamwork skills, and communication skills. Furthermore, leadership skills possessed by graduates have the strongest influence on employment opportunities among the three independent variables. The study adds more information to the current debate in this area and provides practical contributions to the management of the university, particularly in planning various students’ upskilling programmes to increase the rate of graduate employability. The findings suggest that the university should focus on leadership, teamwork, and communication skills in the teaching and learning process.
