A new genus and species of the family Neopygmephoridae (Acari: Heterostigmata: Pygmephoroidea) associated with Geotrupes spiniger (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae) from Ukraine (original) (raw)

2011c. A new species of the genus Spatulaphorus (Acari: Heterostigmatina: Pygmephoridae) phoretic on Geotrupes spiniger (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae) from Iran. Annales Zoologici, 61 (3): 547-551

Abstract.— The mite Spatulaphorus gorganica Rahiminejad et Hajiqanbar sp. nov. (Acari: Heterostigmatina: Pygmephoridae) collected under elytra of the host beetle, Geotrupes spiniger (Marsham, 1802) (Col.: Geotrupidae) is described and illustrated from Oak forests of Golestan province, North of Iran. Moreover, host range of the genus is reviewed and a key to world species of the genus Spatulaphorus is provided. Key words.— Mite, beetle, phoretic, Scarabaeoidea, host range, Iran.

Ground beetles of the Ukraine (Coleoptera, Carabidae)

ZooKeys, 2011

A review of the ground beetles of the Ukrainian fauna is given. Almost 750 species from 117 genera of Carabidae are known to occur in the Ukraine. Approximately 450 species of ground beetles are registered in the Carpathian region. No less than 300 species of ground beetles are found in the forest zone. Approximately 400 species of Carabidae present in the forest-steppe zone are relatively similar in species composition to those in the forest territories. Some 450 species of Carabidae are inhabitants of the steppe zone. Representatives of many other regions of heterogeneous biotopes such as forest, semi desert, intrazonal, etc. can be found in the steppe areas. The fauna of Carabidae (ca. 100 species) of the lowlands of southern Ukraine (sandy biotopes), situated mostly in the Kherson region, is very peculiar. The fauna of the Crimean mountains contains about 300 species. Conservation measures for the Carabidae are discussed.

On the Significance of Genital Characters in Supraspecific Systematics of the Elaterid Subfamily Agrypninae (Coleoptera, Elateridae)

On the Significance of Genital Characters in Supraspecific Systematics of the Elaterid Subfamily Agrypninae (Coleoptera, Elateridae)

The genital characters of some click beetles from the tribes Agrypnini and Conoderini of the subfamily Agrypninae are reviewed. The structural features of male sternite IX, aedeagus, and bursa copulatrix are shown to have great diagnostic value for supraspecific taxa. Based on these characters, the distinctness of the genus Compsolacon Rtt. is confirmed and the taxonomic position of some species from the tribe Conoderini is clarified. Agrypnus cordicollis (Cand.) is recorded for the Russian fauna for the first time.

2012

The current paper presents data on 60 beetle species belonging to 19 families in the Kaliningrad Region (western Russia). Twenty two species of them, Liocyrtusa minuta (Ahrens, 1812), Cerylon fagi Brisout de Barneville, 1867, Harmonia axyridis (Pallas, 1773), Leiestes seminigrer (Gyllenhal, 1808), Conopalpus testaceus (Olivier, 1790), Orchesia undulata Kraatz, 1853, Anogcodes ustulatus (Scopoli, 1763), A. rufiventris (Scopoli, 1763), Zeugophora frontalis Suffrian, 1840, Bruchus pisorum (Linnaeus, 1758), Bruchidius villosus (Fabricius, 1792), Spermophagus calystegiae (Lukjanovitsh & Ter-Minassian, 1957), Cryptocephalus janthinus Germar, 1824, Chrysolina herbacea (Duftschmid, 1825), Phyllotreta astrachanica Lopatin, 1977, Longitarsus rubiginosus (Foudras, 1860), Altica aenescens Weise, 1888, A. tamaricis Schrank, 1785, Polydrusus pterygomalis Boheman, 1840, Cionus nigritarsis Reitter, 1904, Rhamphus oxyacanthae (Marsham, 1802), R. subaeneus (Illiger, 1807), are reported in the area studied for the first time. Tirtoje vietovėje pirmą kartą užregistruotos dvidešimt dvi iš minimų rūšių, t. y. Liocyrtusa minuta (Ahrens, 1812), Cerylon fagi Brisout de Barneville, 1867, Harmonia axyridis (Pallas, 1773), Leiestes seminigrer (Gyllenhal, 1808), Conopalpus testaceus (Olivier, 1790), Orchesia undulata Kraatz, 1853, Anogcodes ustulatus (Scopoli, 1763), A. rufiventris (Scopoli, 1763), Zeugophora frontalis Suffrian, 1840, Bruchus pisorum (Linnaeus, 1758), Bruchidius villosus (Fabricius, 1792), Spermophagus calystegiae (Lukjanovitsh & Ter-Minassian, 1957), Cryptocephalus janthinus Germar, 1824, Chrysolina herbacea (Duftschmid, 1825), Phyllotreta astrachanica Lopatin, 1977, Longitarsus rubiginosus (Foudras, 1860), Altica aenescens Weise, 1888, A. tamaricis Schrank, 1785, Polydrusus pterygomalis Boheman, 1840, Cionus nigritarsis Reitter, 1904, Rhamphus oxyacanthae (Marsham, 1802), R. subaeneus (Illiger, 1807). Straipsnyje pateikti duomenys papildys žinias apie vabalų, (Coleoptera) paplitimą bei bionomiją Kaliningrado srityje bei visame Pietryčių Baltijos regione.
