Bir cümlenin kuruluşunda önemli bir yere sahip olan cümle unsurları, dildeki ana hususlardan biridir. Çünkü cümle unsurları bir metnin daha iyi anlaşılmasına olanak sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada Refik Halit Karay'ın Şeftali Bahçeleri adlı eseri ele alınmış ve metnin daha iyi anlaşılabilmesi için cümle unsurları tahlil edilmiştir. Hikaye Muharrem Ergin'in cümle unsurları tasnifine göre değerlendirilmiş olup çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Şeftali Bahceleri is one of the most focussed and analysed stories of Refik Halit. This story which is in the book of ‘Memleket Hikâyeleri’ is remarkable because it reflects the author’s view of the Anatolian villages and towns, geography and social conditions of the people of the period. In this story, Karay aimed to give the town life of its period, to tell the intellectual/civil servant relationship by addressing some drawbacks and to portray the period. While aiming these, he also tell the impact of the the geography/space requirements and features on human. “In this study the story of “ eftali bahceleri” will be analysed in terms of human and space, impact of the space on human, relationship of human-space and contribution of these to the formation of the story. In addition to this, the impact of the space component on human psychology and the position of the human in the story will be focused

Satire develops first in Greek and Latin arts. After cruising of this development, becomes an art form based on the principles of "praising of virtue", "criticizing the evil" during the Roman period. Satire is sub genres of humor, because the satirist carries the object of criticism on the fictional plane to the field of comical (humorous/ridiciluous) and holds it there. The artist can select the individual, community groups, legal entities and other elements as "victim" and put them at the target of criticism. The satirical text, which is presented with a clear, sharp, aggressive language and style, often uses irony and parody techniques. The analysis of satirical texts imposes consciousness and knowledge that these texts are intended as satirical criticism as a prerequisite. Because, in satirical texts, fragmentary structure is essential, not fiction. As a result of this, there may be a number of fictional or technical problems. The reason is that the humorous is revealed in crowded scenes. Therefor, each approach to analysis requires knowing the characteristics of satire; this is directly related to revealing the purpose and success of the work. Refik Halit Karay, one of the most powerful story-writers of Turkish literature can be considered a successful satirist for his sharp tongue, the power of his style, ability to capture irony. In the context, "Şeftali Bahçeleri" and "Sarı Bal" stories in Karay's Memleket Hikâyeleri provide an potentiality to be considered as satire examples. The aim of this study is to reveal the satirical elements in the stories in question with a comparative assessment. Finally, it is aimed to reveal the satirist attitudes in Karay's texts.

İntertextuality that first started to be mentioned in the field of postmodern criticism with J. Kristeva, based on the Russian critic Mikhail Baktin, originated in the 1960s. This theory is defined as the exchange between two or more texts, a kind of speech, dialogue format, joint association relationship or the presence of a text in another text is based on the principle that each text, open or closed, will bear traces of previously written texts, no text can be independent from other previously written texts. The relations in the text can be rewritten, emulated, expanded, allusion, dialogism, reflection, expansion, narrative transformation, interpretive metatextuality etc. submissions are identified and evaluated in the analysis. Necati Mert, one of the writers of the Republic Period, dealt with the people in the face of changing social conditions and the shocks in the society caused by the changes in his stories. Even if his story figures come into conflict with their surroundings, they cannot influence their environment, they adapt to their environment. The story of "Kasabada Günebakan" in the Geceye Uçurulan Güvercinler is one of these works. There are similarities between this text and story called "Şeftali Bahçeleri" in Memleket Hikâyeleri of Refik Halit Karay, one of the writers of National Literature. The author consciously or unwittingly created his text under the influence of another text.The references between Necati Mert's story "Kasabada Günebakan" and the story "Şeftali Bahçeleri" of Refik Halit Karay who is thought to be imitate of the text will be analyzed through intertextuality method in this study.

Naming is an important way of distinguishing living things from their species and from each other. It covers a process that begins to be considered when the person is in the mother's womb, reflects the traditional values and desires of the family, and is often complicated by the intervention of the society. The name of the person is determined according to various qualities, especially the environment, culture, belief and geographical factors. The namings that are stereotyped as names and surnames for people today were mostly made through nicknames in the past. It is known that naming through nicknames has an important function in separating people with the same name before the surname law. In this respect, nicknames are an important naming system that shows the lineage connection in traditional societies. Ethnic groups of people, physical characteristics (black-white-blonde, slanted eyes, bald), height (long-short), weight (thin-fat), clothing, eating habits, goods and properties (poor-rich) The animals they feed, the places they live in, are some of the prominent features in giving nicknames. These nicknames given to the person sometimes contain humorous elements and sometimes are formed from negative judgments. The nickname is also reflected in literature as a result of social life. The heroes in literary works often exist with their names, and sometimes they take new nicknames. When the author gives a new nickname to his character, he often places the reason for this situation in the plot of the text. In this case, many novel and story heroes are adopted over time and known not by their names but by their nicknames. Among these, the first ones that come to mind can be listed as "Çalıkuşu, Yaban, Kuyucaklı Yusuf, Kürk Mantolu Madonna, Küçük Paşa, Aylak Adam, Kız Tevfik". Refik Halid Karay, one of the important writers of Turkish Literature, also used nicknames in many of his stories. In this article, the nicknames in the stories in Refik Halid Karay's works titled Homeland Stories and Hometown Stories will be evaluated. While the reflections of nicknames or nicknames given to people from the street to literature are discussed in the light of functional and contextual data, attention will be drawn to character analysis. The rationale of the nickname, its reflections on himself and the society, will be evaluated in the context of rewarding and punishment. In this respect, the cultural environment that created the nickname and how the nickname was given will be discussed, and the framework of nicknames will be tried to be drawn with examples from the selected story. is one of the artists who give the most competent samples in story field of 20th Century Turkish Literature. The story "Eskici" which the writer wrote in 1938 when he returned to native country handles the importance that native language holds in human life densely. In the story, are described in emotional old an junk dealer with a child outside of anatolia Turkish talking their enthusiasm. Even if the story "Eskici" is seen as a native country longing of a man who came down to abroad, in the background, it stresses the indispensability of native language on human life. In this story that contains the trace of a native country longing of a man who lived far away from the Anatolian geography for many years, the longing of a boy to his native language and country is told within the context of his dialogue with a junk dealer and it is wanted to be felt with the silence of the boy among foreigners that native language is the most valuable property of human. In the story, it's also seen that with its functional side, setting sheds light to the answers of many questions. Known as the "Fountain of Turkish", Refik Halit Karay uses the language masterfully while he is expressing a reality belonging to human with the help of art. This success ensures him being read for years. The protagonist of the story is not the junk dealer who gave the story his name but the orphan Hasan. It's seen in this story that native language is an indispensable source of life for human. It's doubtless that in order to relish his own language, every person whose native language is Turkish and who has the conscious of Turkish need to read this story. Therefore, the language, which is the human existence condition, is also the main condition of human's continuing his life.

Refik Halid Karay’in Gurbet Hikâyeleri adli eserinde, oteki baglamindan incelenmeye musait yogun imgeler bulmak mumkundur. Genellikle hikâyelerin mekâni Suriye, zamani ise XX. yuzyilin baslaridir. Bundan dolayi, yerel halk olan Araplar ile casus veya asker Ingilizler ve Fransizlar hikâyelerde sikca gecmektedir. Eserde Araplar ve Avrupalilar tespit edilip, yazarin ulkesine duydugu ozlemle, Osmanli Devletinin yikilisinda etkisi bulunan bu gruplara nasil baktigi incelenmistir.

Refik Halit Karay is one of the leading authors of Turkish history and literature. He is an important figure of 20th century Turkish history and literature. As being a productive author Refik Halit Karay is an important information source that researchers must be applied to reach new comments. Our study is generated for researcher’s easily reaching to basic sources about this leading figure. A great part of this study consists of official publications, archives sources, newspapers, periodicals, books, articles, symposiums papers, undergraduate dissertations, postgraduate thesis, PhD dissertations and author’s articles that were published different newspapers and periodicals. The most uptodated information is used in this study. As known his dissident character and is being understood value of Refik Halit Karay was exiled two times in his life. Causes of his exile were political activities during the period of armistice and his writings on political satire. In this respect, to understand of the events in the first quarter of the 20th century, Refik Halit Karay must be researched. One of the most important parts of our study is the section where author’s articles are gathered. We think that this section attract more attention of researchers because of the containing new information. This study is a comprehensive bibliographic research prepared on Refik Halit Karay. Edebiyat sanatında, hayvanların bir anlatım unsuru olarak kullanımı çok eskilere dayanmaktadır. Mitler, efsaneler, destanlar, fabllar, sözlü hikâyeler ve masallarda farklı işlevlerle anlatıya dâhil edilen bu canlılar modern edebî türlerde de yazarların rağbet ettiği önemli bir anlatma aracı olarak çeşitli roller üstlenmektedir. Romantik edebiyatın pastoral hayvanlarından realist edebiyatın tabii hayvanlarına kadar yeni kimlikler ve farklı görevler üstlenerek edebiyattaki varlığını sürdüren hayvanlar; sembolik, alegorik ve metaforik işlevlerle anlatılara temel ve yan anlamsal boyutlarda derinlik katmaktadır. Bu bağlamda Türk edebiyatının en velut yazarlarından Refik Halid Karay’ın Memleket Hikâyeleri ve Gurbet Hikâyeleri adlı eserleri hayvanların farklı işlevlerle yer aldığı zengin bir örneklem olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Hicivlerinde, kaleminin keskinliği sebebiyle “Kirpi” müstearını kullanan, hayvanlar hakkında birçok köşe yazısı kaleme alan ve bu tür yazılarında insani meseleleri daha iyi anlatmak gayesiyle onlardan teşbih ve sembol aracı olarak yararlanan Refik Halid’in hikâyelerinde renkli ve işlevsel bir hayvan kadrosuyla karşılaşılmaktadır. Bunlara bazen kurgusal bazen de atmosfer yaratma, benzerlik kurma, ritim oluşturma ve temsil etme gibi farklı roller yüklendiği gözlemlenmektedir. Yazar, metin başlangıçlarında ve bölüm geçişlerinde atmosfer oluştururken veya kimi hikâye kişilerini veya mekânları tasvir ederken bir anlatım unsuru olarak hayvanlara başvurmaktadır. Onların hikâyelerdeki diğer bir işlevi de ritim oluşturmaktır. Yazarın, hayvan görünümleri veya seslerini kullanarak metnin gerilim düzeyini değiştirdiği ve zaman-mekân geçişlerini sağladığı görülmektedir. Bazı hikâyelerde ise hayvanlar sembolleştirilerek, onlardan sosyal ve beşerî sorunları anlatma vasıtası olarak yararlanılmaktadır. Refik Halid’in hikâyelerindeki hayvan varlığına odaklanan bu çalışmada, onların anlatıya katkıları ve işlevleri ele alınmış ve bu suretle yazarın edebiyat anlayışındaki yerleri ve önemi değerlendirilmiştir.
