Water Reuse Planning for Fulfilment of Clean Water in Indonesia
E3S Web of Conferences, 2020
The number of clean water needed will always increase when the number of the population still shows growth. It must have the same level from the supply and demand or the supply of clean water has higher than the demand for clean water. Some cities in Indonesia have problems with the fulfilment of clean water. Factors from climate change, behaviour, and management can affect the conditions of clean water resources. The development of technologies and science makes the reuse of the water process can be done for another resource of clean water fulfilment. Rainwater harvesting, membrane bioreactors, reverse osmosis, and filtration systems are some kind of processing systems for the water mechanism for the fulfilment of clean water. Sustainable clean water resources and supply is one of the indicators of sustainable development goals. This research was conducted to see how is the potential of water reuse for the fulfilment of clean water in Indonesia by using several systems or processin...

Access to safe water as a basic infrastructure is still a major problem throughout the world, and it is the main concentration to be solved as stated in SDGs pillars 6 and 9. Availability access to basic needs such as infrastructure of water is also one important homework to deal with for the Indonesian government along with the Universal Access 100-0-100. The research aim is to measure the Water Poverty Index (WPI) through the 5-component to propose a poverty eradication strategy of the water infrastructure at the community level. Jabung District in Malang Regency is chosen as the case study, wherein at about 33, 19% and 16% of households are the receiver of Raskin (Poor Rice) program and Program Keluarga Harapan (Family Hopes Program) – the poverty alleviations programs in Indonesia. Both field observation and depth interviews are conducted towards 548 heads of households at the compiling data. The WPI measurement indicates that 1 of the 15 villages have the low safe value of WPI....
Report in Progress in Water Resoorces Management (Wet Region - Indonesia)
2008
The journey of the water resources development in Indonesia during the last decade is generally inspired by the multi -dimensional crisis which knocked the country since 1998. From then on, water-related sectors began to reform their organization structures, two major features become the important issues for further water resources development, i.e.; the autonomy era and economics paradigm. The Government Law No. 25 Year 1999 about Local Government (being amended by Government Law No. 25 Year 2002) and the Government Law No.7 Year 2004 about Water Resources are two main legal aspects that should be taken into account in the water resources development in the country. This paper reviews the progress of the water resources development in Indonesia during the last decade and promotes the idea on the future water resources management as part of the sustainable development of the country. The review includes the history of the water-related infrastructure development in the country, thei...
The availability of water is needed for the sustainability of living creatures in the world. The government regency of Kuningan has a policy in embodying to sustainable development goals. Methods research uses qualitative and quantitative methods; the data is taken from the library and field research. Result and discussions, the current local government policy regency of Kuningan is to have related regulations and support the conservation and has been implemented with indicators of sustainable development goals, namely the availability of water, public sanitation facilities and the existence of urban forest and botanical garden of Kuningan as an effort to maintain the ecosystem in the regency of Kuningan in accordance with sustainable development goals to be achieved in the regency of Kuningan. Conclusion, the strengthening local government policy in the regency of Kuningan through the creation of conservation-based regulations, development planning, and implementation and then evaluation of conservation-based development activities, and increasing community participation in supporting conservation through tree planting activities in the form of environmental care bridal programs, the apparatus and students care for the environment it grows then the availability of water will always be fulfilled in both quality and quantity.

Investigation of the Water Supply System and Water Usage in Urban Kampung of Bandung City, Indonesia
Journal of Water and Environment Technology, 2019
Clean water is essential for humans, regardless of their social and economic conditions. Meanwhile, an urban kampung is typically a densely populated area in the city and consists of low-income households that cannot afford the safe water provided by formal water providers. Due to this constraint, the urban kampung of Bandung City, Indonesia has developed alternative sources of water using either deep wells or shallow dug wells. This research focuses on understanding the typology of the water supply system in this area and analysing water usage. Information regarding the current situation was obtained from field surveys, water quality tests, interviews with local stakeholders, and from questionnaires supplied to domestic respondents. The findings show that a total of 52% of the residents use communal wells or individual wells as their main water source, and the majority of the residents claim that they were satisfied with the present water supply system. However, some wells were contaminated by bacteria due to lack of water treatment systems. The data on existing usage patterns is needed as basic information to assist in the design of an improved water supply system.

Arjosari Village, Kalipare Subdistrict, Malang Regency, experiences drought every year; this makes the villagers buy water when the dry season comes. This research aims to find out how much knowledge of the people of Arjosari Village, Kalipare District, Malang Regency in saving rainwater used as an alternative to fulfil water needs in the dry season. The research method used was a descriptive survey method with a sample of 82 people. Survey studies are "a observe that takes samples from a single population and uses questionnaires as a primary records series tool". The results showed that the community's knowledge of the concept of saving rainwater was "high".Meanwhile, for the public's knowledge of methods of saving rainwater, there were 26 people in the "Low" category, 40 people in the "Medium" category, and 16 in the "High" category. Methods that can save rainwater are the construction of rainwater infiltration wells, bio p...
Water resources, sustainability and societal livelihoods in Indonesia
Ecohydrology & Hydrobiology, 2011
Rapid national development and increasing population pressures on land resources have caused serious social and environmental problems in Indonesia that require concerted efforts to overcome and proper resource management. A series of national programs dealing with the problem of linking the water environment and community livelihoods were created, and they are being implemented around the country under a framework of broad guidelines for sustainable development and integrated water resources management. This paper presents a brief description of Indonesian water and environmental resources, followed by an overview of progress in and development of an ecohydrological approach that has been introduced during the past decade. It was recognized that the approach provides a strong scientifi c basis and is in line with the needs and efforts being promoted through national movements in natural resource management to guarantee societal livelihoods and sustainable national development.
Solution to Water Scarcity in the Eastern Indonesia: A Case Study of the Lembata Regency
International Journal of GEOMATE, 2020
The Lembata Regency, which is located on Lembata Island in eastern Indonesia, is a region with high water scarcity. Appropriate efforts should be made to ensure the drinking water supply in the area. A water supply-demand analysis is needed to determine the condition of water sources (surplus or deficit). Water supply is determined based on rainfall data, while water demand is calculated based on domestic, nondomestic and irrigation needs, including evapotranspiration. Evapotranspiration is calculated using the Thornthwaite method. The results showed that a water deficit would exist in the Lembata Regency in 2033 for seven months per year (May to November), although the amount of accumulated water in one year would still be surplus. Therefore, it is recommended to store water in a raw water reservoir during the rainy season for use during the dry season. The minimal total reservoir capacity is 95,000,000 m 3 , and the reservoir should be spread among watersheds in Lembata. The raw water reservoirs need to be lined with a geomembrane to prevent lost water from seeping into the soil.

Effective water resource management offers a very significant value across social, economic, commercial and environmental application. For this fundamental reason, adequate sustainability becomes equally crucial. Therefore, activities geared towards the depletion in quantity, quality, and loss of potable water resources, particularly for communities, demand urgent reconsiderations. Erosion in coal mining land causes depletion in water quantity and quality, as well as inadequate drinking water resources for surrounding communities, making water resources unsustainable. Meanwhile, reclamation reduces erosion, but is unable to restore water depletion optimally, thus, these resources remain unsustainable. these resources remain unsustainable. However, recycling depleted water utilization for drinking provides economic value for the environment, as well as the community’s drinking water resources’ availability and sustainability. The objectives of this study were to develop water resourc...
