Development & Synthesis of Nickel-Nylon Smart Nanocomposites (original) (raw)

Nanocomposites, consisting of nickel particles with nanometer dimension embedded in a nylon matrix, display a variety of interesting smart physical properties. CO2 Laser has been shown to be suitable for the preparation of nickel nano particles. In this work, the 2.5 micron-sized nickel powder has been ablated to 5 nanometers through a CO2 Laser in a room temperature at first. Then, the Nickel-Nylon nanocomposite was successfully fabricated under isotropic condition at 120oC and characterized by means of optical, scanning electron microscopes (SEM),field emission scanning electron microscopes (FESEM), transmission electron microscopes(TEM) and XRD as well. The primary mechanical properties obtained from the tests which are the hardness and the elasticity modulus is determined. The micro-mechanical properties were analyzed and its magnetic properties were practically determined. Through successful development of Nickel-Nylon nanocomposite, the produced nanocomposite is proposed in its potential applications for aircraft smart-spider webs system. Using of Nickel-Nylon Nanocomposite enhance performance of spider webs system during the flight.
