Our era is characterized by the presence of new technologies in every aspect. Like all organizations, libraries are called upon to adapt to the new data and the developments they bring about. The exploitation of technology and applications enables the creation of a more integrated organization of their services through digital proposals. The adaptation of Public Libraries to the new technological era makes the organization of knowledge and information easy, fast, direct and effective and this is the goal of any organization that operates anthropocentrically and has an active role in society. New technologies have highlighted much more strongly the need for changes in all areas of their activity in order to be able to meet the modern demands of users, and signaled their entry into a new era, where their position was in fact more upgraded as channels of Knowledge and information.

Starting with the creation of the global information space, there are two forces that can really influence information processes. The first side is the technological side, the other side is the state structures based on social and humanitarian issues. The creators of global networks and the owners of key technologies advocate that everything remains as it is, based on freedom of speech, and in humanitarian terms, states are trying to control this process based on the implementation of legislation. The first side is based on free speech, controls the advertising market and dodges taxes, the other side wants to deal with “concerned groups” and also fight social ailments. It is also exploring the reasons why libraries use social media to ensure an effective and widespread information service.
The Role of the Libraries in the Information Society

After the transition to the information society, our world is in a fast and massive transformation in social, cultural, political and economical terms. This transformation process affects almost all organizational structures. One of the structures that is affected of this process is the library with its culturally and socially organizational characteristics as they collect, preserve and serve the information; spot the information as the focus and eventually aim to meet the information needs of the society. The aim of this study is to examine the information society fact as well as determining the effects of the transition to the information society on the libraries and to give information of the status of the libraries in the information society.
