La regio Bastitania como problema histórico, Florentia Iliberritana 26, 2015, 149-179 (original) (raw)

In the present article we approach, from a political, administrative and ethnographic point of view, the meaning that could have had one of the Hispanic geographical constituencies named as regio in the works of Pliny. Concretely we will study the case of the Bastitania regio, trying to find answers to its creation in, we think, the Principality of Octavian Augustus. There is no doubt that the significance that could have had the regiones for geographers or for the administration of Rome, is something that is still unclear for the concrete case of Hispania. Studies conducted in other countries, such as the case of Italy, have provided a broad comparison basis though, as we say, there is still much research to be done, a research that will be helped by the advances that can come from the hands of archaeology.
