This study aims to examine the relationship between the social representations of professionals of the Family Health Strategy (ESF) o n care in Mental Health and the organization of practices and actions of attention to Mental Health in the city of Horizonte- CE. It is a qualitative research of exploratory and descriptive held on 4 Basic Health Units (UBS) in the city of Horizonte CE, of february to j une of 2015, study participants are 26 professionals who make up the EqRSF and NASF who wo rk in the selected UBS. The data survey took place as from the Free Association of T echnical Words (TALP), associated with the application of semi-structured interviews and s ystematic observation. To analyze the information gathered was used as a reference the Co ntent Analysis. As guiding of this study, we chose the Theory of Social Representations and S ocial Psychology. The study results demonstrated social representations of care in ment al health linked to welfare notion and individual balance, to medicalized and ambulatory c are practices and the idea of be challenging and inefficient. With that, was observe d direct affectations in the flow of RAPS, with difficulties in communication between services , restrictions in the implementation of care integral technologies and care practices of te ndency institutionalizing.
