Facies Analysis and Sequence Stratigraphy of Silurian Carbonate Ramps in the Turan (Kopeh-Dagh) and Central Iran Plates with Emphasis on Gondwana Tectonic Event (original) (raw)

The study focuses on the facies analysis and sequence stratigraphy of Silurian carbonate ramps within the Turan (Kopeh-Dagh) and Central Iran Plates, highlighting the influence of the Gondwana tectonic event. Two main sections were examined: the Niur Formation in the Tabas Block and a lower and upper member in the Kopeh-Dagh basin, characterized by diverse sedimentary structures and faunal assemblages. Results suggest that the sedimentary environments and stratigraphic developments were significantly influenced by regional tectonics and sea-level changes during the Silurian period.
