2017

This paper is a presentation of the CO2stCap project to be undertaken in the four year project period (2015 – 2019). The project focuses on partial CO2 capture in process industry and how this can be applied to reduce cost. By performing techno–economic analyses, the optimal capture rate, including optimal design, application and configuration for different industry sources can be obtained. Cost estimation methods are used as a basis to identify and verify potentials for cost reduction when applying different options for implementation of partial CO2 capture. CO2stCap. Industries studied in this project are pulp & paper, steel, cement and metallurgical production of silicon for solar cells. CO2 Mitigation

2019

1, 2, 3, 4Chemical Engineer, Loni, Maharashtra, India ---------------------------------------------------------------------***--------------------------------------------------------------------Abstract Carbon Dioxide(CO2) with increasing the crisis for ecology and nourishing to extinguish the planet also known as the greenhouse gas. The power plants play the major role to the emission of the flue gas containing CO2. To evade such environmental issue with its mitigation by the methods of pre as well as post combustion in various power plants for the capture of CO2 that uses amine as base. More the CO2 accumulates in the atmosphere more the climate heats up, so to get rid of such crisis towards the environment, there was an increase in the chase of research to capture CO2 from the environment. The post combustion method is the most widely used in various power plants and it’s quite similar to the desulphurization. To overcome such technique towards future prospective by developing so...

Carbon Footprint Reduction Strategies

Carbon dioxide emissions have increased significantly worldwide during the past few decades, caused by an increased industrialization reaching nearly 25 billion tons of CO2. Most fired equipment burn some type of fossil fuel, generating CO2 as a by-product. Historical evidence targets CO2 as the main contributor to greenhouse gas effects and the US and many other industrialized nations have increased their efforts in finding alternative solutions to control and reduce emissions by introducing new policies and investments in technological advancement. This paper evaluates various strategies that are currently available to owners for reducing carbon dioxide emissions from various processing facilities, including power plants, LNG plants, refineries and Sulfur recovery facilities. Also reviewed are some emerging technologies that assist in meeting targets and tools available to assess economic impacts of investment in such facilities.

Opportunities for Pollution Prevention and Energy Efficiency Enabled by the Carbon Dioxide Technology Platform

Annual Review of Energy and the Environment, 2000

▪ Various applications using carbon dioxide (CO2) have developed within the last decade and, if current trends continue, the CO2 technology platform could emerge as the most commonly used solvent in the twenty-first century. An environmentally friendly platform that is wrapped in a successful business format with apparent implications for people and their communities is most likely to endure. Does the CO2 technology platform meet the criteria for becoming a sustainable enterprise? Utilizing CO2 as an alternative solvent in conventional processes has the potential to favorably impact the environment and our communities. There are, however, several barriers to adopting CO2-based applications. Several concepts as well as obstacles to adopting the carbon dioxide technology platform are highlighted in this chapter.
