A 5-year report from a multicentre randomised clinical trial: immediate non-occlusal versus early loading of dental implants in partially edentulous patients

To compare peri-implant bone and soft-tissue levels of immediately non-occlusally loaded versus non-submerged early loaded implants in partially edentulous patients 5 years after implant placement. Fifty-two patients were randomised in five Italian private practices: 25 in the immediately loaded group and 27 in the early loaded group. To be immediately loaded, single implants had to be inserted with a torque of > 30 Ncm, and splinted implants with a torque of > 20 Ncm. Immediately loaded implants were provided with non-occluding temporary restorations within 48 hours. After 2 months, the provisional restorations were put in full occlusion. Implants were early loaded after 2 months. Final restorations were provided 8 months after implant placement. Outcome measures were prosthesis and implant failures as well as biological and prosthetic complications recorded by non-blinded assessors. To compare the efficacy of immediate nonocclusal loading (test group) versus early loading (control group) in partially edentulous patients. Clinical and radiographic assessment of implant-supported rehabilitation of partial and complete edentulism: a 2 to 8 years clinical follow-up

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to find out the rates of survival and success of implant rehabilitation, and the influence of some risk indicators on the medium- and long-term prognosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS Of the 102 patients eligible for this study rehabilitated with dental implants during the years 2009-2015, 75 patients with 156 implants of different implant systems placed and loaded by the same team were recalled. For each subject, pocket-probing depth, bleeding on probing, plaque buildup, mobility of the fixtures, and the presence/absence of prosthetic complications were recorded. Radiographic evaluation was based on the analysis of bone levels around the fixtures, as shown by intraoral radiographs. RESULTS The average follow-up was 4.4 years, ranging from 1.5 to 7.8 years. Immediate loading of four or six implants in completely edentulous patients

In this retrospective study, 44 patients received screw-retained full-arch acrylic resin provisional prostheses connected on 4 or 6 implants in the mandible or maxilla, respectively. With a mean follow-up of 17.6 months, 3 of 205 implants were lost and replaced successfully. Cosmetic fractures were shown in six patients; one abutment loosening, one abutment fracture, and one implant fracture were also observed. Prosthetic fracture was shown in one patient. Marginal bone loss reached two to five threads on 13 implants (6.4%). The results confirmed that immediate loading of 4 mandibular or 6 maxillary implants with an acrylic resin prosthesis for full-arch rehabilitation is a reliable technique in the short- and midterm.

Immediate Occlusal Loading the Same Day or the Day After Implant Placement: Comparison of 2 Different Time Frames in Totally Edentulous Lower Jaws

Immediate loading of endosseous implants is becoming a widespread therapeutic procedure for the rehabilitation of patients with edentulous jaws. The purpose of this prospective clinical trial was to evaluate the long-term success rate of endosseous implants placed in the edentulous lower jaw and loaded on either the same day of surgery or the next day. Nineteen patients were enrolled in the study. Eleven patients, accounting for 64 implants, received their provisional prosthesis the same day of implant placement, and 8 patients, accounting for 52 implants, were rehabilitated the day after surgery. All patients were rehabilitated by a hybrid prosthesis supported by 5 to 6 Osseotite implants. Two implants failed in the group of patients who had their implants loaded the same day (96.9% success rate), whereas 1 implant failed in the other group (98.1% success rate). Purpose: To compare and evaluate the efficacy of strategic implant® placement followed by immediate loading in regard to primary stability, quality of bone and survival and success of implants. Material and Methods: This prospective cohort study included total 26 patients were selected from both sex, 19 males/7 females in age group of 40 to 70 years, were restored with strategic implant® irrespective of the quality and quantity of cancellous/alveolar bone following immediate functional loading protocols. 8 to 10 strategic implant® were placed per jaw and restored with a prosthesis within 72 hours. 447 BECES® implants, 20 BECES EX® implants, 4 KOC MICRO® implants and 2 ZDI implants were placed in the study.
