Measurement of the b jet cross section in events with a Z boson in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96TeV
Physical Review D, 2006
A measurement of the inclusive bottom jet cross section is presented for events containing a Z boson in pp collisions at √ s = 1.96 TeV using the Collider Detector at Fermilab. Z bosons are identified in their electron and muon decay modes, and b jets with E T > 20 GeV and |η| < 1.5 are identified by reconstructing a secondary decay vertex. The measurement is based on an integrated luminosity of about 330 pb −1 . A cross section times branching ratio of σ(Z + b jets) × B(Z → ℓ + ℓ − ) = 0.93 ± 0.36 pb is found, where B(Z → ℓ + ℓ − ) is the branching ratio of the Z boson or γ * into a single flavor dilepton pair (e or µ) in the mass range between 66 and 116 GeV/c 2 . The ratio of b jets to the total number of jets of any flavor in the Z sample, within the same kinematic range as the b jets, is 2.36 ± 0.92%. Here, the uncertainties are the quadratic sum of statistical and systematic uncertainties. Predictions made with NLO QCD agree, within experimental and theoretical uncertainties, with these measurements. 7

A measurement is presented of the inclusive cross-section for b-jet production in association with a Z boson in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √ s = 7 TeV. The analysis uses the data sample collected by the ATLAS experiment in 2010, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 36 pb −1. The event selection requires a Z boson decaying into high p T electrons or muons, and at least one b-jet, identified by its displaced vertex, with transverse momentum p T > 25 GeV and rapidity |y| < 2.1. After subtraction of background processes, the yield is extracted from the vertex mass distribution of the candidate b-jets. The ratio of this cross-section to the inclusive Z cross-section (the average number of b-jets per Z event) is also measured. Both results are found to be in good agreement with perturbative QCD predictions at next-to-leading order.
Properties of Jets in Z Boson Events from 1.8 TeV p¯p Collisions

We present a study of events with Z bosons and hadronic jets produced in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV. The data consist of 6708 Z ! e + e , decays from 106 pb ,1 of integrated luminosity collected using the CDF detector at the Tevatron Collider. The Z + n jet cross sections and jet production properties have been measured for n = 1 to 4. The data compare well to predictions of leading order QCD matrix element calculations with added gluon radiation and simulated parton fragmentation.

Measurements of the production of jets of particles in association with a Z boson in pp collisions at √ s = 7 TeV are presented, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb −1 collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Inclusive and differential jet cross sections in Z events, with Z decaying into electron or muon pairs, are measured for jets with transverse momentum p T > 30 GeV and rapidity |y| < 4.4. The results are compared to next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations, and to predictions from different Monte Carlo generators based on leading-order and next-to-leading-order matrix elements supplemented by parton showers.

This paper presents a measurement of the production cross-section of a Z boson in association with b-jets, in proton-proton collisions at sqrts\sqrt{s}sqrts s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.6 fb−1. Inclusive and differential cross-sections are measured for events containing a Z boson decaying into electrons or muons and produced in association with at least one or at least two b-jets with transverse momentum pT> 20 GeV and rapidity |y| < 2.5. Predictions from several Monte Carlo generators based on leading-order (LO) or next-to-leading-order (NLO) matrix elements interfaced with a parton-shower simulation and testing different flavour schemes for the choice of initial-state partons are compared with measured cross-sections. The 5-flavour number scheme predictions at NLO accuracy agree better with data than 4-flavour number scheme ones. The 4-flavour number scheme predictions underestimate d...
