Control of continuous-time chaotic (hyperchaotic) systems: F-M synchronisation
International Journal of Automation and Control, 2019
In this paper, a new type of chaos synchronisation between different dimensional chaotic systems is proposed. The novel scheme is called F-M synchronisation, since it combines the inverse generalised synchronisation with the matrix projective synchronisation. In particular, the proposed approach enables F-M synchronisation to be achieved between n-dimensional master system and m-dimensional slave system in different dimensions. The technique, which exploits nonlinear controllers, stability property of integer-order linear continuous-time dynamical systems and Lyapunov stability theory, proves to be effective in achieving the F-M synchronisation. Finally, simulation results are reported, with the aim to illustrate the capabilities of the novel scheme proposed herein.
Optimized synchronization of chaotic and hyperchaotic systems
Physical Review E, 2010
A method of synchronization is presented which, unlike existing methods, can, for generic dynamical systems, force all conditional Lyapunov exponents to go to −ϱ. It also has improved noise immunity compared to existing methods, and unlike most of them it can synchronize hyperchaotic systems with almost any single coupling variable from the drive system. Results are presented for the Rossler hyperchaos system and the Lorenz system.
Preserving synchronization under characteristic polynomial modifications
2009
In this article we present a methodology under which stability and synchronization of a dynamical master/slave system configuration are preserved under specific modifications made to its Jacobian matrix's characteristic polynomial. We propose to modify the coefficients of the associated characteristic polynomial by calculating their value to the m-th power, with m an odd, positive integer. The objective is to show that under these modifications, hyperbolic critical points are preserved along the stable and unstable manifolds. It is also shown that a consequence of this approach is the preservation of the signature of the Jacobian matrix associated with the dynamical system. To illustrate the results we present several examples of well known chaotic attractors.
Modified Projective Synchronization of New Hyper-chaotic Systems
2014
In this paper, we discuss modified projective synchronization of two identical new hyper-chaotic systems by active non linear control. And the stability results derived in this paper for modified projective synchronization of two identical new hyper-chaotic systems are established using Lyapunov stability. Since the Lyapunov exponents are not required for these calculations, the active nonlinear control method very effective and convenient two achieve modified projective synchronization of two identical new hyper-chaotic systems. Numerical simulations are shown to validate and demonstrate the effectiveness of the Modified projective synchronization schemes derived in this paper.
Robust synchronization of chaotic systems
Physical Review E, 2000
The question of robustness of synchronization with respect to small arbitrary perturbations of the underlying dynamical systems is addressed. We present examples of chaos synchronization demonstrating that normal hyperbolicity is a necessary and sufficient condition for the synchronization manifold to be smooth and persistent under small perturbations. The same examples, however, show that in real applications normal hyperbolicity is not sufficient to give quantitative bounds for deformations of the synchronization manifold, i.e., even in the case of normal hyperbolicity two almost identical systems may cause large synchronization errors.
Nonlinear Analysis: Modelling and Control
In this paper, we present new schemes to synchronize different dimensional chaotic and hyperchaotic systems. Based on coexistence of generalized synchronization (GS) and inverse generalized synchronization (IGS), a new type of hybrid chaos synchronization is constructed. Using Lyapunov stability theory and stability theory of linear continuous-time systems, some sufficient conditions are derived to prove the coexistence of generalized synchronization and inverse generalized synchronization between 3D master chaotic system and 4D slave hyperchaotic system. Finally, two numerical examples are illustrated with the aim to show the effectiveness of the approaches developed herein.
Generalized synchronization of chaos in directionally coupled chaotic systems
Physical Review E - PHYS REV E, 1995
Synchronization of chaotic systems is frequently taken to mean actual equality of the variables of the coupled systems as they evolve in time. We explore a generalization of this condition, which equates dynamical variables from one subsystem with a function of the variables of another subsystem. This means that synchronization implies a collapse of the overall evolution onto a subspace of the system attractor in full space. We explore this idea in systems where a response system y(t) is driven with the output of a driving system x(t), but there is no feedback to the driver. We lose generality but gain tractability with this restriction. To investigate the existence of the synchronization condition y(t)=P(x(t)) we introduce the idea of mutual false nearest neighbors to determine when closeness in response space implies closeness in driving space. The synchronization condition also implies that the response dynamics is determined by the drive alone, and we provide tests for this as well. Examples are drawn from computer simulations on various known cases of synchronization and on data from nonlinear electrical circuits. Determining the presence of generalized synchronization will be quite important when one has only scalar observations from the drive and from the response systems since the use of time delay (or other) embedding methods will produce "imperfect" coordinates in which strict equality of the synchronized variables is unlikely to transpire. Increased-order generalized synchronization of chaotic and hyperchaotic systems
Pramana, 2014
This paper presents increased-order generalized synchronization (GS) of chaotic and hyperchaotic systems with different order based on active control technique. By this technique, we design suitable control functions to achieve GS between (i) a new three-dimensional (3D) chaotic system and four-dimensional (4D) hyperchaotic Lorenz system and (ii) four-dimensional hyperchaotic Lorenz system and five-dimensional (5D) hyperchaotic Lorenz system. The corresponding numerical simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of this technique.
Synchronization Phenomena in Coupled Birkhoff-Shaw Chaotic Systems Using Nonlinear Controllers
Nonlinear Systems - Design, Analysis, Estimation and Control, 2016
In this chapter, the well-known non-autonomous chaotic system, the Birkhoff-Shaw, which exhibits the structure of beaks and wings, typically observed in chaotic neuronal models, is used in a coupling scheme. The Birkhoff-Shaw system is a second-order nonautonomous dynamical system with rich dynamical behaviour, which has not been sufficiently studied. Furthermore, the master-slave (unidirectional) coupling scheme, which is used, is designed by using the nonlinear controllers to target synchronization states, such as complete synchronization and antisynchronization, with amplification or attenuation in chaotic oscillators. It is the first time that the specific method has been used in coupled non-autonomous chaotic systems. The stability of synchronization is ensured by using Lyapunov function stability theorem in the unidirectional mode of coupling. The simulation results from system's numerical integration confirm the appearance of complete synchronization and antisynchronization phenomena depending on the signs of the parameters of the error functions. Electronic circuitry that models the coupling scheme is also reported to verify its feasibility.
