Polyol-mediated synthesis of nanocrystalline ceria doped with neodymium, europium, gadolinium, and ytterbium (original) (raw)

This research presents a novel method for synthesizing nanocrystalline ceria doped with neodymium, europium, gadolinium, and ytterbium using polyol-mediated synthesis. The synthesis in a propylene glycol medium results in significantly reduced particle sizes, achieving values between 2-4 nm. Structural analyses demonstrate that doping with Gd, Eu, and Nd leads to measurable increases in the unit cell parameter consistent with the Vegard rule, while Yb doping shows negligible impact on the parameters, indicating the successful formation of solid solutions.
