Post Secondary Correctional Education and Recidivism in Texas (original) (raw)
This study was an analysis of existing information specific to post-secondary correctional education programs and the influence on recidivism in Texas. The study utilized quantitative (ex post facto) research data from the Texas Windham School District with established methodologies to determine whether inmate graduation from post-secondary correctional education programs influences recidivism in Texas. The purpose of this study is to contribute to the limited research of post-secondary correctional education programs in Texas as rehabilitative programs to reduce incidents of recidivism. The study provides knowledge of post-secondary correctional education program opportunities for Texas legislators, prison managers, and prison education leaders’ options needed to create additional inmate PSCE rehabilitation services. The findings and results are based on the interpretations of the researcher.
