Project Management - From Simple to Complex

Faster, cheaper, and better has become the mantra of not only profit-making organizations seeking to increase market share and profits but also nonprofits and governmental organizations seeking to increase their value to clients. Organizations are increasingly using projects to meet these goals. Projects are goal directed and time framed, and when managed well, projects deliver on time and within budget. This book is about how to manage projects well.

Project Management-The Challenges & Their Resolutions

This paper helps in understanding and reviewing the different types of risks and challenges that are encountered with respect to project management and how various methods can be used to resolve those risks. The main interest of this paper is to analyze the influence of the dynamic and ever-changing environment of projects nowadays. Corporate projects undergo lots of real time changes and these need to be thought of and understood before starting the project so as to avoid any delays or obstruction in the completion of the project. The following are some of the topics that have been analyzed in this paper: What is project management? What are the challenges faced? How can those issues be resolved?

Project Management Theory

Project management is a crucial expertise in today's modern society. To be able to define, plan, execute and close a project are the mains phases of a project.According to the International Journal of Project Management, Project Management is the combination of the technical skills and planning which lead the accomplishment of unique product by managing process from the point of cost, time, and quality and to diversify the Project constraints to use various resources . It can be identified as "A temporary endeavour undertaken to achieve a particular aim." (2002 The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc.). It is never on going or continuous it always has an end date. To be able to manage a project effectively a project manager should always consider Time, Scope, cost and quality since these are crucial elements of a project to end successfully. Project Management also very crucially involves a team and the ability for the team to work well together defines how well the project can come along and be put together since managers must plan and arrange with the input of others. Throughout this report interviews with I.T project managers on different elements of Project Management will demonstrate and asses the implications as well as implementations that consist in managing projects, also how managers assess and deal with and skills that have come to be improved over time.

Project Management – Challenges and Research Results

The demand for professional expertise in project management is constantly increasing due to the progressive complication of environmental processes and the functioning of organizations of all kinds as well as arising problems through projects' execution. To meet this demand, project management is intensively developed from both the practical and scientific side. As a result, project management has become a separate field of practical and scientific knowledge which has a separate subject of study, its own theoretical foundations, using specific research methods. The development of project management is done by specialized academic centers, research institutes, professional associations, consulting firms and individual professionals. The Chair of Project Management at the Warsaw School of Economics is one of the leading centers of scientific and practical project management in Poland. The issues described in this publication cover a wide spectrum of current challenges and problems in project management. The purpose of this publication is to present the research achievements of Chair and people co-operating with it in both national and – above all – international environment of specialists in project management.

Project Management and Project Management Best Practices

Dama International Journal of Researchers, 2018

Project management has been defined differently by various scholars. Kerzner (2006) sees project management as the process of planning, defining work requirements, and specifying the levels of quality of deliverables, as well as the resources needed, project monitoring, evaluating and making corrections where necessary. According to Kerzner (2006), there has been an increased use of project management over the years by organizations to achieve organizational goals. Qureshi, Warraich, and Hijazi (2009) advised that project management knowledge and practices can be modelled based on individual processes. An analysis of project management research in the allied disciplines reveals an explosion of popularity and a strong interest in project management research (Kwak & Anbari, 2009). This has been widely recognized in the area of design, planning, control, cost and quality of projects across the globe (Ika, 2012; Ika, Diallo & Thuillier, 2010; Moyo, 2009). The strategic management of every organization depends largely on projects and how they have been managed and each project is unique and requires a tailored project management approach (Shenhar & Dvir, 2007b). This necessarily implies that the same project management approach cannot be arbitrarily applied to all projects. The first research question (RQ1) is tied with the assertions above. Thus, the study sought to evaluate how MMDAs manage their projects while considering which project management practices they adopt. Do they have standard project management practices across various MMDAs or do they vary the project management practices based on the source of funding or aim of the project in question?
