The General Equilibrium Tradition in Austrian Economics (original) (raw)
This paper examines the historical and intellectual development of Austrian economics through the lens of prominent economists such as Hayek, Wieser, and Menger. It specifically addresses objections to the author's interpretation of Hayek's relationship with the Wieser tradition, offering evidence that Hayek viewed himself as adhering to Wieser’s principles while also tracing the divergence of ideas over time. The author argues that Wieser’s concepts, particularly related to general equilibrium theory, significantly influenced Hayek's work, despite Hayek's eventual departure from some of Wieser's foundational ideas.
