Pre-Archaic Occupations in the West Arm of the Black Rock Desert (original) (raw)

This thesis examines early archaeological sites in the Black Rock Desert, focusing on their settings, functions, and chronological context. The investigation centers on survey data from Lahontan shorelines, encompassing three field seasons (2004-2006), which identified various lithic assemblages indicative of Middle to Late Archaic periods, with minimal evidence for earlier Pre-Archaic occupations. The findings emphasize the limited diagnostic tools available from these sites and suggest challenges in interpreting the region's prehistory.
