Correction_Exam SAS ESSAI 2015_1_ Wajdi Ben Saad (original) (raw)

This article aims at reinforcing the assumption that the Algerian writer Mouloud Feraoun lived between two cultures though he was not able to break away from any: the original Kabyle culture and the French culture. My article will bring out the complementarity between these two cultures, on one hand, and the abyss that separate them, on the other hand. We will mainly see how Feraoun puts both cultures side by side, in his novel La Terre et le Sang, but fails to blend them together. Through this article, I will try to answer two main questions: How the Self and the Other accept each other and coexist in Feraoun’s novel? What is the aim of Feraoun when he brings Madame to Ighil Nezman instead of letting Amer live in Paris?
