From usability to playability: introduction to player-centred video game development process (original) (raw)
This paper explores the evolution from usability to playability in the context of video game development. It argues that traditional usability metrics are insufficient for capturing the full spectrum of user experience in video games, which are interactive and emphasize fun and entertainment. The authors propose a conceptual framework for playability that includes specific attributes and facets to analyze and enhance player experience throughout the development process, advocating for a player-centered design methodology.
