Impact of globalization on education system

The terms ‘Globalization’ and ‘Internationalization’ are to be seen as distinct but linked concepts so far as the higher education is concerned. Globalization is the cause and the internationalization is the effect in response. In broad terms, the strategies to be followed to internationalize the higher education at the national level and to respond to the various demands rising out of the globalization of economies and related activities, must be outlined. Developing this strategic plan and implementing it speedily is crucial for any nation to succeed in the highly competitive knowledge driven global economy.

CHANGING AIMS OF EDUCATION IN NEW ERA IN CONTEXT TO GLOBALIZATION

The term “Globalization” means integration of economies and societies through cross country flows of information, ideas, technologies, goods, services, capital, finance and people. Cross-border integration is multi-dimensional including cultural, social, economic and political dimensions Globalization brings education to the front lines. An aim is a conscious purpose which we are apt to set before us. Education is one of the most important instruments that play their role in Human development. Globalization has created many opportunities as well as challenges only those nations can benefit from the opportunities which have acquired the required knowledge and skills. Relevant quality education and training, predominant in the new environment, promotes a productive and informed citizenry, and offers opportunities to the socially and economically underprivileged sections of society. Physical and mental well-being in a holistic and integrated approach towards human development is very much crucial. Global education is an education perspective which arises from the fact that contemporary people live and interact in an increasingly globalized world. Some Considerations on Globalization and its Effects on Education

Nowadays globalization is the most widespread conversation topic. Endless discussions are being carried on and both intellectuals and non-governmental organizations, official representatives of governments or other different national or international organizations are studying the impact of globalization on social and political life, on the environment and demographic variations, on culture and on the system of values in different corners of the Earth and, last but not least, on the educational phenomenon at global level. While it is true that globalization has some positive aspects, it is also true that it triggers a number of negative aspects, especially for developing countries which seem to be at a disadvantage compared to the developed countries. That is why some people reject or refuse to accept this phenomenon, others try to The Annals of "Dimitrie Cantemir" Christian University 94 understand and to accept it, whereas others even associate it with the progress made in the cultural and educational environment of the 21 st century.

This article examines the political, economic, and social forces shaping global education policies. Of particular concern is global acceptance of human capital ideology and its stress on education as the key to economic growth. Human capital ideology encompasses consumerism which is a driving force in global economics. This article discusses the role of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Bank, and global education businesses in globalizing education policies and human capital ideology. An alternative to human capital ideology is an educational paradigm based on the goals of longevity and happiness.

The term ‘globalization’ means integration of economies and societies through cross country flows of information, ideas, technologies, goods, services, capital, finance and people. Cross border integration can have several dimensions – cultural, social, political and economic. In other words “The total education system of the world under one roof” it requires the unification of teaching curriculum, methodology and up gradation of knowledge and system to remain in the context for efficiency and effectiveness by which transformation of knowledge in justified manner to attain the goals of life. This qualitative study is an attempt to describe the concepts of an education, teacher education, in the context of globalization. Globalization has containing both opportunities and threats for national development. This paper challenges the determinants of educational policy and argues that any country will need to develop its own national approach to modernizing education in light of the global context. This paper considers the global transformations require that people develop new skills, new experiences, new knowledge and schools have an important role in this sense. The role of the teachers and the way they should teach in this new high-tech global economy, people are learning in new ways for new purposes and schools and teachers should adapt themselves for this new reality and rearrange their skills, achievements and previous experiences to adapt themselves to new opportunities.
