Ubiquitous computing: what is in it for learning? (original) (raw)
Computers are already integrated in many of the equipment we use in work, during learning, for entertainment and in the household. Developments in this direction where the appearance of computers is more and more part of the environment is called ubiquitous computing. This paper discusses the opportunities of ubiquitous computing for learning, including examples from related research projects. Also the paper provides a framework of learning scenarios, in order to facilitate an integration of the ubiquitous computing discussion in authentic contexts. Privacy, intellectual property rights and internationalization are finally issues to consider, especially when ubiquitous computing in learning aims at success in a worldwide virtual campus.
