Acute Carotid T Occlusion in a Young Patient: Cryptogenic Origin? (original) (raw)
A 32-year-old male presented with acute global aphasia and right-sided hemiplegia after heavy physical exertion. Diagnostic imaging revealed a left carotid T occlusion, which required both thrombolysis and thrombectomy for successful reperfusion. Despite initial improvements, transient neurological deficits recurred, leading to further investigations that uncovered an apical left ventricular thrombus and coronary artery stenosis, ultimately diagnosed as a myocardial infarction. The case emphasizes the critical need for thorough cardiovascular evaluation in young stroke patients, especially in the context of cryptogenic stroke.
