Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) from Lagoa do Tamburí farm, Aracatu – Bahia, with new records

Species of Cerambycidae were inventoried in an area of Caatinga (dryland) vegetation in the municipality of Aracatu, Bahia State, Brazil, between August/2012 and July/2013. The insects were collected using light traps, active searches, and white cloth trapping. A total of 716 specimens of Cerambycidae were collected; 665 of them were identified as belonging to 107 species, 84 genera, 30 tribes, and 3 subfamilies. The species Phaedinus carbonelli Monné, 1999, Lepturges (Lepturges) fasciculatoides Gilmour, 1962, Hoplistonychus bondari Melzer, 1930, Ataxia arenaria Martins & Galileo, 2013 were new records for Bahia; Nesozineus obscurus Hoffmann, 1984 is new record for Brazil. The subfamily Cerambycinae demonstrated the greatest richness, with 56 species. These results contribute to our knowledge of the Cerambycidae fauna of Brazil.

É descrita e ilustrada Lathroeus immaculatus sp. nov. (Lamiinae, Acanthocinini).

Four new species of Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) from Brazil and updated identification keys

Annales de la Société entomologique de France, 2018

Four new species of longhorn beetles are described from Brazil: Coleoxestia diamantina n. sp. (Cerambycinae, Cerambycini), from Bahia; Mirador bravoi n. sp. (Cerambycinae, Ectenessini), from Bahia; Compsibidion antonietae n. sp. (Cerambycinae, Neoibidionini), from Goiás, Bahia and São Paulo; and Amphicnaeia quadrifasciata n. sp. (Lamiinae, Apomecynini) from Bahia. Coleoxestia diamantina and Compsibidion antonietae are included in previous keys.

Scientific Note Mimetic Assemblages of Lycidlike Cerambycidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) from Southeastern Brazil

2016

4CNPq researcher Abstract. The mimetic relationships between cerambycid (mimics) and lycid beetles (models) are investigated in two forests of Southeastern Brazil. Eight lycidlike species of Cerambycidae were detected. The co-occurrence of the taxa and the greatest abundance of lycids through the time are evidences of the Batesian mimicry in Cerambycidae. Key Words: aposematism, color patterns, Lycidae, mimicry, Neotropical beetles.

Faunistic analysis of Cerambycidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) in an area of Atlantic Forest

The Atlantic Forest is considered a hotspot biome, one of the most diverse in the world. Currently, due to deforestation, only 22% of the original cover remains, and only 7.5% well preserved. Despite the global importance of this biome, it still lacks basic studies, e.g. primary inventories. Cerambycidae is one of the most diverse groups of beetles, with high ecological and economic importance. The aim of this work was to survey the longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae) in three fragments (Pacangê, Vila 5 and Pancada Grande) of Atlantic Forest within Reserva Ecológica da Michelin (southern Bahia State, Brazil). A total of 166 individuals belonging to 53 species were recorded, 15 of them new geographical records for the state, and one for Brazil. The Shannon index (H) shows Pacangê (H = 2.665) as the most diverse fragment, followed by Pancada Grande (H = 2.658) and Vila 5 (H = 2.565). The most abundant species were Nyssodrysina lignaria (38 specimens collected), followed by Compsibidion vanum (31 specimens). One hundred and ten specimens were captured in Malaise traps, while in light traps only 56 specimens were caught; however, the richness and consequently the diversity in light traps was higher. This is one of the few studies carried out in Atlantic Forest surveying longhorn beetles, and provides primary data on these taxa, to help develop conservation policies for this threatened biome.
