Neonatal screening for congenital adrenal hyperplasia in taiwan: A pilot study (original) (raw)

This pilot study evaluates the effectiveness of neonatal screening for congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) in Taiwan, analyzing a cohort of 192,687 newborns from March 2000 to August 2001. Results revealed a 1.2% positive screening rate, with 68 cases referred for endocrinological evaluation, leading to a confirmation rate of 19.1%. The findings indicate that neonatal screening can identify CAH cases early, highlighting the importance of prompt treatment to mitigate risks associated with this condition.
