Charge-(CDWs) and spin-density waves (SDWs) are collective states with long-range order existing in solids and competing with superconductivity. CDWs and SDWs (hereafter we shall also use the abbreviation DWs for a common case) correspond to the so-called diagonal long-range order (DLRO), as distinct from superconductors. For the latter a two-particle density matrix, characterizing the superconducting state, can be factorized into a product of two Gor'kov anomalous averages.
