Long Term Electric Peak Load Forecasting of Kutahya Using Different Approaches
2011
In the system planning, control and management of power distribution companies the long term peak load demand projections has an important role. In general, the load forecasting is performed by studying the past events. Long term forecasting of future peak load demand is very important for the economic and secure operation of power systems. In this study the long term peak load forecasting is performed for the city of Kutahya with the least squares regression based methods and artificial neural networks (ANN) using the load, temperature and population growth data from 2000 to 2008. The results attained are validated with the real data obtained from the Turkish Electricity Distribution Corporation (TEDAS) which represents the monthly peak load electric consumption in Kutahya, Turkey. By comparing the forecasted results with the real data the most suitable method is proposed.
Comparison of Short-Term Load Forecasting Based on Kalimantan Data
Indonesian Journal of Statistics and Its Applications, 2021
This paper investigates a case study on short term forecasting for East Kalimantan, with emphasis on special days, such as public holidays. A time series of load demand electricity recorded at hourly intervals contains more than one seasonal pattern. There is a great attraction in using a modelling time series method that is able to capture triple seasonalities. The Triple SARIMA model has been adapted for this purpose and competitive for modelling load. Using the least squares method to estimate the coefficients in a triple SARIMA model, followed by model building, model assumptions and comparing model criteria, we propose and demonstration the triple Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average model with AIC 290631.9 and SBC 290674.2 as the best model for this study. The Triple seasonal ARIMA is one of the alternative strategy to propose accurate forecasts of electricity load Kalimantan data for planning, operation maintenance and market related activities.
Regression Based Forecast of Electricity Demand of New Delhi
The forecast of electricity demand in India is of considerable interest since the electricity sector has been the prime focus of past as well as present Governments. This study presents three models of prediction of electricity demand of New Delhi, namely Multiple Regression, Trend Seasonality Model and ARIMA modelling. The significance of climatic and seasonal factors on electricity demand as well as comparison of the relative accuracy of the models have also been discussed
TO FORECAST THE FUTURE DEMAND OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY IN INDIA BY ARIMA
India faces formidable challenges in meeting its energy needs and in providing adequate energy of desired quality in various forms in a sustainable manner and at competitive prices. India needs to sustain an 8% to 10% economic growth rate, over the next 25 years. To deliver a sustained growth rate of 8% through 2035-2040 and to meet the lifeline energy needs, India needs at the very least , to increase its primary energy supply by 3 to 4 times and its electricity generation capacity/supply by 5 to 6 times of their 2005-6 levels.
ELECTRICITY FORECASTING OF JAMMU & KASHMIR: A METHODOLOGICAL COMPARISON
The electricity demand forecast is an important input for planning of the power sector to meet the future power requirement of various sectors of electricity consumption. A planned load growth in industry, agriculture, domestic and other sectors is necessary to have unified growth in all sectors of economy and therefore it is necessary that infrastructure is planned in various sectors of electricity consumption so as to direct the overall growth of economy in rational manner.
International Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (IJECE), 2018
The prediction of the use of electric power is very important to maintain a balance between the supply and demand of electric power in the power generation system. Due to a fluctuating of electrical power demand in the electricity load center, an accurate forecasting method is required to maintain the efficiency and reliability of power generation system continuously. Such conditions greatly affect the dynamic stability of power generation systems. The objective of this research is to propose Double Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (DSARIMA) to predict electricity load. Half hourly load data for of three years period at PT. PLN Gresik Indonesia power plant unit are used as case study. The parameters of DSARIMA model are estimated by using least squares method. The result shows that the best model to predict these data is subset DSARIMA with order ([1,2,7,16,18,35,46],1,[1,3,13,21,27,46])(1,1,1)48(0,0,1)336 with MAPE about 2.06%. Thus, future research could be done b...
A Hybrid Short Term Load Forecasting Model of an Indian Grid
Energy and Power Engineering, 2011
This paper describes an application of combined model of extrapolation and correlation techniques for short term load forecasting of an Indian substation. Here effort has been given to improvise the accuracy of electrical load forecasting considering the factors, past data of the load, respective weather condition and financial growth of the people. These factors are derived by curve fitting technique. Then simulation has been conducted using MATLAB tools. Here it has been suggested that consideration of 20 years data for a developing country should be ignored as the development of a country is highly unpredictable. However, the importance of the past data should not be ignored. Here, just previous five years data are used to determine the above factors. Figure 2. Load Forecasting using Time Series Techniques
Design Engineering (Torranto), 2021
Load Forecasting is of great significance for effective and efficient operation of power system. Use of time series is of much importance in load forecasting. In this study, effectiveness of different time series techniques is identified to gathered valuable information. The objective is to predict electric load efficiently and effectively. This paper analyses the prediction accuracy of variety of time series method in modeling Electric load forecasts. The study examines the time series forecasting methods applied to estimate future electric load, specifically, Moving Average (MA), Linear Trend, the Exponential and Parabolic Trend. A comparison of different forecasting techniques of Time Series is demonstrated on real time data. The data utilized for forecast is made available through a distribution company of India. The traditional linear models and hybrid models along with ANN are developed. These models are appraised for the forecasting capability.
Short term electrical load forecasting using holt-winters method
AL Rafdain Engineering Journal, 2012
Load forecasting is a process of predicting the future load demands. It is important for electrical power system planners and demand controllers in ensuring that there would be enough supply of electricity to cope with increasing demands. Thus, accurate load forecasting can lead to an overall reduction of cost, better budget planning, maintenance scheduling and fuel management. Therefore this study aimed to develop new forecasting model for forecasting electricity load demand which will minimize the error of forecasting. This paper presents an attempt to forecast the daily peak demand of electricity by using an appropriate time series model. It is the Seasonal Holt-Winters method. The performance of this method was evaluated by using the forecasting accuracy criteria namely, the Absolute Percentage Error (APE) and the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). Based on these criteria the Holt-Winters method emerged as a suitable model for forecasting electricity demand in Iraq.
Forecasting of Domestic Electricity Consumption in Assam, India
International Journal of Energy Economics and Policy
Though the power supply scenario in Assam is not comparable with other developed states of India, yet it is improving gradually. With increasing household electrification rate, increasing income and technological development, the share of Domestic electricity consumption in the state is experiencing a rapid growth in comparison to the other sectors like Industry, Commerce, Agriculture etc. and therefore the forecasting of domestic electricity consumption become very important to meet the power needs of the consumer. The aim of this study is to suggest the best forecasting model for domestic electricity consumption in Assam. For this purpose, three models viz. Multiple Linear Regression considering the effects of population and per capita income; ARIMA and Growth curves viz Linear, Quadratic, Cubic, Exponential, Logarithmic and Inverse are used considering the time period 1980-2018. When growth curves are compared in terms of diagnostic criteria- Adjusted R2, RMSE, AME and MAPE, then...
