GENDER BIAS AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC PROBLEMS OF WOMEN ...
2014
The condition of women in a society is an index of that society's place in civilization. India is a multifaceted society where women's status is heavily dependent on many different variables that include geographical location (Urban/Rural), educational status, social status (Caste and class), and age. As such, women and girls have restricted mobility, access to education, access to health facilities and lower decision-making power, and experience higher rates of violence. Despite existing reservations for women, their political participation is also hindered even at the panchayat (local governing bodies) level and also at the state and national levels. Policies on women's welfare and empowerment exist at the national, state, and local (panchayat) levels in many sectors, including health, education, economic opportunities, and political participation etc. However, there are significant gaps between policy advancements and actual practice at the ground level. This paper attempts to study the gender inequality and socioeconomic problems of women in India. Besides this, the paper also examines various issues which the women are facing in India.

Muadalah
Indonesia and India have had a good relationship for a long time. Apart from the similarities mentioned in the previous paragraph, Indonesia and India also have other similarities. This project seeks to document gender bias in Indonesia and India. A questionnaire comprising 43 questions was prepared to achieve the data. There are two types of questions in the questionnaire, namely: 21 items with yes or no questions and 22 open questions. The result claimed that the stereotype is not a statement that justifies the opinion of everyone in Indonesia or in India. The statement is still valid in some parts of society. But the world is becoming more broadminded. The community's thinking about the rights and roles of each gender is being recognized. The people gradually are becoming aware of their respective roles and rights. The opportunity to gain higher education for all genders provides a great opportunity to minimize gender inequalities that are still felt by some particular pe...
GENDER DIFFERENCES AND BIASES IN THE WORKPLACE
Gender equality in the workplace has been a major concern for almost all the organizations and countries. Even in most developed countries we cannot find complete gender equality in true sense. This paper aims to discuss whether there is gender biasness in organizations or not? Gender biasness is considered as a major constraint towards the development process in any of the country and thus we have made an attempt to determine the root causes for gender gap that persists in our society. Also considering gender in the office is vital to encourage productive office environment and create a space that ensures both genders thrive. Jennifer Berdahl explains "Women tend to prefer egalitarian norms in work groups, whereas men favor hierarchical structures," in a study published in the journal Group Dynamics: Theory, Research and Practice. We have tried to investigate the differences on certain parameters like perception towards work and colleagues, workplace environment, satisfaction levels, salaries etc. Under the study, we have highlighted some basic causes of gender disparity against women including ignorance of female at higher positions, maternity leaves, lack of opportunities for promotion and so forth. We, therefore, have provided some policy implications for further improvement of the gender situation in the country

Gender Identity and Gender Discrimination Among Female Employees in India
OPUS, 2019
Gender discrimination is an unspoken reality for Indian women and it extends to the workplace. It limits the true potential of the female workforce and the growth of the nation, besides adversely affecting women's health and engagement at the workplace. The study emphasizes the need to understand and dismantle gender discrimination as there is a strong economic and welfare rationale for doing so. Gender is viewed from a social identity perspective and thus, the role of gender identity in the perception of gender discrimination at work is examined for 65 female employees at work. Significant correlations were observed between three out of four dimensions of gender identity and gender discrimination. Multiple regression results indicated that the four dimensions of gender identity together explain 41% variance in the perception of gender discrimination. The model reflected a good fit and can be expected to generalize the findings well on the population. The study highlights the importance of gender identity in the perception of gender discrimination at work and shows that various dimensions of gender identity can impact gender discrimination differently. Managerial implications of the same are also discussed and development of gender and identity related interventions is advised to tackle gender discrimination in a positive way at the workplace.

Gender Inequality in North East India
The present paper is an attempt to analyze the status of gender inequality in North East India using various indicators based on secondary data. The study reveals that the northeast is better off than that of the nation as a whole in terms of gender equality. However inequality between women and men exists in the region in spite of the predominance of various ethnic groups who by and large do not believe in sex discrimination. The study reveals that women are relatively disempowered and enjoy somewhat lower status than that of men in the region. Gender gap exists in terms of access to education, employment and health. A large gender gap exists in political participation both at the levels of state and nation. Among the northeastern states, Meghalaya, Manipur and Mizoram show relatively lesser degree of gender inequality in terms of work participation, literacy, infant mortality and sex ratio. The situation is however adverse in case of Tripura, Assam and Sikkim. The study concludes with an observation that access to education, employment and health are only the enabling factors that may not guarantee the achievement towards the goal, which however, largely depends on the mindset of the people. Introduction: The past few decades have witnessed a steadily increasing awareness of the need to empower women and achieve gender equality through measures to increase social, economic and political equity, and broader access to fundamental human rights, improvements in nutrition, basic health and education. The concept of gender equality has been gaining importance as the subordinate status of women in relation to men has been seen in almost every facets of life. Gender equality is understood as that stage of human development at which the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of individuals are not to be determined by the fact of being born as male or female. It is a stage when both men and women realize their full potential and become partners in every sphere of their lives. Realizing the extent of gender inequality throughout the world, the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) was established as a separate fund within the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 1984. The General Assembly at that time instructed to ensure women's involvement with mainstream activities. The Platform of Action resulting from the 1995 Beijing World Conference on Women expanded the concept and called it as 'gender mainstreaming' i.e., the application of gender perspectives to all legal and social norms and standards, to all policy development, research, planning, advocacy, development, implementation and monitoring-as a mandate for all member states. The gender factor was no longer to be only a supplement to development but central to the practice of development. As a result of the Beijing conference and many years of
Gender Discrimination is one problem that continues to affect woman in India. The traditional oppressive norms have relegated women to secondary status at the workplace and in the household. This has left them with little or education at all. Women occupy half the globe. But their survival has been a question; their existence with honour and dignity has been a problem., Woman is the subject of sexual exploitation in and outside the home, to say on roads, trains, buses, hospitals, schools, Workplaces and everywhere, wherever there is a male. She has no secured places in this Universe to live in Male violence against woman is a worldwide phenomenon. In the last decades woman's issues and concern have been debated widely; the major issue being equality. Though their contribution in different economic, social and political activities is very well recognized, yet the idea of equality is still a distant dream.
