GeorGiev, S., A. TAShev and K. Koev, 2013. eco-biological characteristics of medicinal plants in the maintained reserve "Balabana" (the river Tundzha hilly valley). Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., In the present work we investigated medicinal plants of the flora of the maintained reserve "Balabana", located in the middle reaches of the river Tundhza, near elhovo (Tundzha hilly valley). A characteristic was made of the systematic structure of the eco-biological features of these plants. The species were grouped in biological groups, life forms, floral elements and flowering period. Medicinal plants were also classified according to their relation to water, light, heat and substrate.

Medicinal Plants of Bulgaria

Current Perspectives on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CUPMAP)

Bulgaria is a small country in Southeast Europe, but its geographic location, varied relief and climate contribute to great floristic diversity. The medicinal plants are part of it. They represent 23.2% of the country's flora. The aim of the present paper is to present information about the full composition of the medicinal plants of Bulgarian flora as well as characteristics of the systematic structure and classification according to biological type, life form, floristic geolements, period of flowering, and ecological groups. The complete list of medicinal plants in Bulgaria was compiled on the basis of the Medicinal Plants Act, extensive literature analysis and own researches. The life forms were identified according to Raunkiaer and for floral elements the classification of Walter was used. The ecological forms were identified according to Flora of Republic Bulgaria. As a result of the conducted surveys it was found that there are 950 medicinal species of vascular plants in the country belonging to 468 genera and 126 families. The richest family containing medicinal plants was Rosaceae (98 specie). The most medicinal plants existed among perennial herbaceous plants (539 species). Geoelements with a European component were predominated (408 species). The most plants bloom from June to August (121 species). The ecological structure of medicinal plants shows that mesophytes (435 species); heliophytes (545 species) and thermophylous plants (607 species) were dominated. The results of the study include also a detailed information about the national and international conservation importance of the analyzed species. 65 species were included in the Red Book of Bulgaria. There were 81 species protected by the Biodiversity Law. Among the medicinal plants are 16 Balkan and 4 Bulgarian endemic spesies. The international significance of these plants was defined by the fact that 33 of species were under protection by different international conventions. The ratio between the biological types, the predominant geoelements and the life forms shows is typical for the temperate continental climate zone and the flora of our country. The total percentage of protected species (7%) is not high, which is positive because most species are subject to use by the local population, the pharmaceutical and perfumery industry.

Biodiversity and resource assessment of medicinal plants of the Bezden-Ponorsko Plateau and Beledie Han area (Western Stara Planina), Bulgaria

2018

Two hundred and fifty medicinal plants belongingh to 189 genera and 65 families were found in the area of Bezden-Ponorsko Plateau and Beledie Han. Twenty-eight species are of conservation significance. Two species are covered by the Bern Convention. The Bulgarian Biodiversity Act included 17 of the recorded species, two are subject to the Directive 92/43/EEC, six are regulated by CITES, and three are included in the Red Data Book of Bulgaria. Eleven species have a special mode of protection and use under the Bulgarian Medicinal Plants Act. The operational stocks of 10 medicinal plants have been determined, four of them with economically significant resources.

Eighteen medicinal plant species were with conservation significance, including endemic, rare and protected species.

The Characteristic Medicinal Plants of Different Vegetation Types from the Niraj Valley, Romania

Acta Biologica Marisiensis, 2018

In this study the medicinal plants of some representative vegetation types from a human-modified Eastern European landscapes were investigated. The studied territory is part of a Special Protection Area for bird species. The following sampling areas were included in the study: humid grasslands; mountain hay meadows; semi-natural dry grasslands; Sub-pannonic steppic grasslands; fringe communities of mesothermophilic forest edges; grey willow scrubs; thickets of willow; forests of white willow; hornbeam-beech, oak-hornbeam, and sessile oak forests; scrubs of blackthorn and hawthorn; Subcontinental peri-Pannonic scrubs. The ordering of medicinal plants on the basis of presence/absence data and the abundance data presented the grouping in the following typical communities: to the deciduous forests, to the coppices and scrubs, and to the grasslands and meadows. A total of 208 medicinal plants were found from which 37 species are included in the European Pharmacopoeia, and 13 in the Roman...

VARIETY OF MEDICINAL PLANTS IN A CULTIGENIC ECOSYSTEM

2009

As a result of plant diversity investigation in the "Metropolit Metodi Kusev" Forest Park cultigenic system and concurrent application of Regulation Acts of Bulgarian and international legislation, 239 species of medicinal plants are established. They are distributed in categories with respect to accessibility to usage, preservation conditions and their economic importance. 9 species with Nature preservation status, 2 Balkan endemics and 9 Tertiary relicts are registered. Quantitative and qualitative assessment of the populations of these with greater significance is made.

AN ETHNOBOTANICAL STUDY OF THE MEDICINAL PLANTS IN THE BELOSLAV AREA, NORTHERN BLACK SEA COAST (BULGARIA).

This study is part of an ethnobotanical investigation of the medicinal plants in the Northern Black Sea coast region, which includes the area from the village of Durankulak to the town of Obzor. The boundaries were determined using the map of the floristic regions in Bulgaria. Field work was conducted in the period from June and July 2017. Surveyed were 92 people from 3 communities. The study was carried out on the basis of the survey methodology. Interviews with the local population were conducted using original questionnaires prepared upfront. The respondents belong to different gender, ethnicity, age and education groups. The data from the different applications of medicinal plants in the life of the local population were processed and summarized.

Eco-biological characteristics of the flora in the floodplain forests of the protected area "Nahodishte na blatno kokiche" the Village of Vinica, Parvomay (Bulgaria

The present study examines the flora in the protected area "Nahodishte na blatno kokiche", Vinitsa village, region of Plovdiv, situated in the middle course of the Maritsa River. The received data is based on three-year research in the floodplain forests in the protected area and analyses of the literary sources. Eco-biological characteristic of the higher plants is made, and the species are distributed by biological groups, by life forms, by floral elements, and by time of flowering. The plants are classified by ecological groups according their regard towards the water, the light and the heat as a factor. Conclusions for the presence by percentage of medicinal flora in the protected area are made, as well as their anthropogenic influence and the perspectives regarding security and business use.
